1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Mehran ibn Muhammad who has said the following: “I heard abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), say, ‘When a person dies, Allah sends an angel to the most distressed person of his family. The angel wipes the heart of that person to forget the pain of his sorrow and grief. Were this not to happen, the world would cease to develop or gain anything.”

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn Salim who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that Allah, the Most Blessed, the Most High, has granted people three favors: He has made dead bodies to give out foul smell; otherwise, no friend would ever bury a friend. He has made solace to take effect; otherwise, reproduction would halt. He has assigned a creature over this grain (to destroy it); otherwise, the kings would store (hoard) them as gold and silver are treasured (in hiding).”

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Mehran ibn Muhammad who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), say, ‘When a person dies, Allah sends an angel to the most distressed person of his family. The angel wipes the heart of that person to forget the pain of his sorrow and grief. Were this not to happen, the world would cease to develop or gain anything.”
