بَابُ الْقُنُوتِ فِي الْفَرِيضَةِ وَ النَّافِلَةِ وَ مَتَى هُوَ وَ مَا يُجْزِي فِيهِ‌

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى وَ غَيْرُهُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ وَ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ:

سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ع عَنِ الْقُنُوتِ فِي الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسِ فَقَالَ اقْنُتْ فِيهِنَّ جَمِيعاً قَالَ وَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ عَنِ الْقُنُوتِ فَقَالَ لِي أَمَّا مَا جَهَرْتَ فَلَا تَشُكَ‌.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya and others have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr and from Safwan ibn Yahya from ibn Bukayr from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “I once asked abu Ja’far (a.s.), about Qunut (supplication after recitation in second Rak‘at) in the five daily Salah (prayer). He (the Imam) said, ‘Say Qunut in all of them.’ I afterwards asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about Qunut. He (the Imam) said, ‘You must not have any doubt about (the need for Qunut) in whatever you say aloud.’”

[2]حمله القائلون بوجوبه في الجهرية على أن المراد لا تشك في وجوبه اذ لا يمكن حمله على النهى عن الشك في استحبابه لاقتضائه بقرينة المقام. و ذكر« امّا» التفصيلية عدم الاستحباب في الاخفاتية و هو خلاف الإجماع و أجاب الآخرون بأنّه يمكن أن يكون المراد لا تشك في تأكد استحبابه( آت)ص 339

2. Ahmad has narrated from al-Husayn from ibn abu Najran from Safwan al-Jammal who has said the following: “Whenever I performed Salah (prayer) led by abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), I found him (the Imam) say Qunut (supplication after recitation in second Rak‘at) in every Salah (prayer); those which are said aloud as well as those said silently.”

سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنِ الْقُنُوتِ فَقَالَ فِيمَا يُجْهَرُ فِيهِ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ إِنِّي سَأَلْتُ أَبَاكَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ فِي الْخَمْسِ كُلِّهَا فَقَالَ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ أَبِي إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ أَبِي أَتَوْهُ فَسَأَلُوهُ فَأَخْبَرَهُمْ بِالْحَقِّ ثُمَّ أَتَوْنِي شُكَّاكاً فَأَفْتَيْتُهُمْ بِالتَّقِيَّةِ.

3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn Faddal from ibn Bukayr from abu Basir who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about Qunut (supplication after recitation in second Rak‘at). He (the Imam) said, ‘It is in Salah (prayer) in which recitation is loudly?’ I (the narrator) then said to him (the Imam), ‘I asked your father about it and he said that it is in all of the five daily Salah (prayer).’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘I pray to Allah to grant favors to my father, the companions of my father asked him and he informed them of the truth. Thereafter skeptics came to me and I made a presentation according to Taqiyah.’”

Ali ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa has narrated from Yunus ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman from Muhammad ibn Fudayl from al-Harith ibn al- Mughirah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Say Qunut (supplication after recitation in second Rak‘at) before Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees) in every two Rak‘at in obligatory Salah (prayer) or optional ones’”

5. Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan, from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Hajjaj who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about Qunut (supplication after recitation in second Rak‘at). He (the Imam) said, ‘It is in every Salah (prayer); obligatory or optional.’”

وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ:

6. Through the same chain of narrators as that of the previous Hadith the following is narrated from Yunus from Wahab ibn “Abd Rabbihi who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Whoever omits Qunut (supplication after recitation in second Rak‘at) in dislike his Salah (prayer) is not anything.’”

7. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Zurarah who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘There is Qunut (supplication after recitation in second Rak‘at) in every Salah (prayer) in the second Rak‘at before Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees).”’

8. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from Aban ibn ’Isma‘il ibn al-Fadl who has said the following: “I once asked abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), about Qunut (supplication after recitation in second Rak‘at) and what is said in it. He (the Imam) said, ‘Say whatever Allah makes to come out from your tongue. I do not know of anything definite for it.’”

9. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Fadalah from Aban from ‘Abd al- Rahman ibn abu ‘Abd Allah, who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Al-Qunut in obligatory Salah (prayer) is pleading (before Allah) and in Witr it is to ask forgiveness (from Allah).’” (Ahadith 1-9 are best explained in the form of fatwa.)

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع رَجُلٌ نَسِيَ الْقُنُوتَ فَذَكَرَهُ وَ هُوَ فِي بَعْضِ الطَّرِيقِ فَقَالَ يَسْتَقْبِلُ الْقِبْلَةَ ثُمَّ لْيَقُلْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنِّي لَأَكْرَهُ لِلرَّجُلِ أَنْ يَرْغَبَ عَنْ سُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص أَوْ يَدَعَهَا.

10. Muhammad ibn Isma’il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Hariz from Zurarah who has said the following: “I asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about a man who has forgotten al-Qunut then remembers somewhere on the way. The Imam said, ‘He should turn toward Qiblah and say it.’ He then said, ‘I do not like a man’s ignoring traditions of the Messenger of Allah or abandoning them altogether.’”

11. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn abu Hamzah from abu Basir who has said the following: “I asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the minimum form of al-Qunut. He said, ‘It is five times saying, “Allah is free of all defects.’””

12. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Sa‘d ibn abu Khalaf who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is sufficient for al-Qunut to say, “O Lord, forgive us, grant us mercy, good health and pardon us in this world and in the next life; You have power over all things.’””

13. Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘I do not know of any Qunut (supplication after recitation in second Rak‘at) except before Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees).”’

14. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id who has said the following: “Ya‘qub ibn Yaqtin narrated to me saying, ‘I once asked the virtuous servant of Allah about Qunut (supplication after recitation in second Rak‘at) in al-Witr, the morning Salah (prayer) and Salah (prayer) which is said aloud before Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees) or after Ruku‘. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is before Ruku‘ when you complete your recitation.’”

15. Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad Ya‘qub ibn Yazid from Ziyad al-Qandiy from Durust from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “He (the Imam) (a.s.), has said, ‘There is Qunut (supplication after recitation in second Rak‘at) in every Salah (prayer); obligatory or optional.’” (Ahadith 13-15 are best explained in the form of fatwa.)
