4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Faddal from ibn Bukayr from ‘Ubayd ibn Zurarah who has said the following: “Once a few persons of our people and I were in a company, among them was Muyassir, between Makkah and al-Madinah. As we traveled, we were in doubt about the time of Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime). Certain ones among us said that we must walk for a while until we are certain about Zawal, then perform Salah (prayer). Thus, we did so and we had walked only a little that the caravan of abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), appeared. I said, ‘The caravan has come.’ I saw Muhammad ibn Tsma‘il and asked him, ‘Have you performed Salah (prayer) yet?’ He replied, ‘My grandfather instructed us so we performed Salah (prayer) al-Dhuhr and al-‘Asr all together.’ We then left and I went to inform our people about it.’”
