Excellence of Meat

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Washsha’ from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan who has said the following: “I once asked abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), about the master curries in this world and in the next life. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is meat. Have you not heard the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘. . . meat of bird from that which they desire. 5 (56:21)”

2. Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Bandar has narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Muhammad ibn Ali from ‘Isa ibn ‘Abd Allah al-‘Alawiy from his father from his grandfather who has said the following: “Ali (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Meat is the master food in this world and in the next life. 5 ”

3. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Ali ibn al-Rayyan in a marfu‘ manner has said, the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘The master food in paradise is meat.’”

4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from certain persons of our people who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘The master food is meat.’”

5. Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Bandar and others have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Muhammad ibn Ali from al-Hassan ibn Ali ibn Yusuf from Zakariya ibn Muhammad al-Azdiy from ‘Abd al-‘A’la’ Mawla’ Ale Sam who has said the following: “I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘We narrate among us that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Allah, most Blessed, most High, disliked the house of meat.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘They have lied. The Messenger of Allah spoke only about the house in which people backbite and eat people’s meat. My father (a.s.), liked meat and on the day he passed away, there was thirty dirham in the sleeve of the mother of his child to buy meat.’”

6. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Misma‘ abu Sayyar who has said the following: “Once, a man said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘People before us narrate that Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, dislikes the house of meat.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘They have spoken the truth, but not as they think it is. It is in the sense that Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, dislikes the house in which people eat other peoples’ meat (backbite them).”’

7. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from al-Husayn ibn abu al-‘Ala’ who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, ‘Liked meat a great deal.’”

8. Ahmad ibn Muhammad has narrated from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Sayf ibn ‘Amirah from al-Hassan ibn Harun who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), on the day he passed away, left thirty dirham to buy meat, because he was a man who liked meat.’”

9. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ja‘far ibn Muhammad al-Ash‘ariy from ibn al-Qaddah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘We members of Quraysh people like meat a great deal.’”
