مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ نَادِرٍ الْخَادِمِ قَالَ:

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Nadir al-Khadim who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’ (a.s.), would eat cooked chickpeas before and after food.’”

عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ:

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَرْوُونَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ص قَالَ إِنَّ الْعَدَسَ بَارَكَ عَلَيْهِ سَبْعُونَ نَبِيّاً فَقَالَ هُوَ الَّذِي يُسَمُّونَهُ عِنْدَكُمُ الْحِمَّصَ وَ نَحْنُ نُسَمِّيهِ الْعَدَسَ.

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘People narrate that the Holy Prophet has said, “Seventy Prophets have blessed chickpeas.’” He (the Imam) said, ‘This is what you call chickpeas but we call it lintels.’”

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ عَنْ رِفَاعَةَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ‌ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى لَمَّا عَافَى أَيُّوبَ ع نَظَرَ إِلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ قَدِ ازْدَرَعَتْ‌ فَرَفَعَ طَرْفَهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَ قَالَ إِلَهِي وَ سَيِّدِي عَبْدُكَ أَيُّوبُ الْمُبْتَلَى عَافَيْتَهُ وَ لَمْ يَزْدَرِعْ شَيْئاً وَ هَذَا لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ زَرْعٌ فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَيْهِ يَا أَيُّوبُ خُذْ مِنْ سُبْحَتِكَ كَفّاً فَابْذُرْهُ وَ كَانَتْ سُبْحَتُهُ فِيهَا مِلْحٌ فَأَخَذَ أَيُّوبُ ع كَفّاً مِنْهَا فَبَذَرَهُ فَخَرَجَ هَذَا الْعَدَسُ وَ أَنْتُمْ تُسَمُّونَهُ الْحِمَّصَ وَ نَحْنُ نُسَمِّيهِ الْعَدَسَ.

3. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from his father from fadalah from Rifa‘ah who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘When Allah, most Blessed, most High, granted good health to Ayyub (a.s.), he looked to the Israelites who had their plantations. He raised his eyes to the sky and said, ‘O Lord, my Master, this is Your slave Ayyub who was in suffering and You granted him good health but he does not have any plantation. These are people of banu Israel who have their plantations.’ Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, sent him revelation that said, ‘Take a handful from you rosary beads and use it as seed .’ His rosary beads had salt in it, Ayyub (a.s.), took a handful from it and used it as seed and what grew was this lintel. You call it chickpeas and we call it lintels.’”

الْحِمَّصُ جَيِّدٌ لِوَجَعِ الظَّهْرِ وَ كَانَ يَدْعُو بِهِ قَبْلَ الطَّعَامِ وَ بَعْدَهُ.

4. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’ (a.s.), has said, ‘Chickpeas are good cures for back pain and he (the Imam) would ask for it before and after food.’”
