عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ السِّمْطِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ:

تَقْلِيمُ الْأَظْفَارِ وَ الْأَخْذُ مِنَ الشَّارِبِ وَ غَسْلُ الرَّأْسِ بِالْخِطْمِيِّ يَنْفِي الْفَقْرَ وَ يَزِيدُ فِي الرِّزْقِ.

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Sufyan af-Simt who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Cutting fingernails, trimming the mustache and washing the head with marshmallow plant banish poverty and increases one’s sustenance.’”

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ibn Faddal from ibn Bukayr who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Washing one’s head every Friday with marshmallow plant is immunity from albinism and insanity.’”

3. Ahmad ibn Muhammad from has narrated from al-Qasim ibn Yahya from his grandfather al-Hassan ibn Rashid from abu Basir who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘Washing the head with marshmallow plant removes dirt and fine dust.’”

4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from Musa ibn Sa‘dan from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘One who trims his fingernails and washes his head with marshmallow plant every Friday is like one who sets free one human soul from bondage and slavery.’”

5. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Muhammad ibn Ali from al-Hassan ibn Muhammad al- Sayrafiy from ’Isma‘il ibn ‘Abd al-Khaliq who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Washing the head with marshmallow plant is a protective charm.’”

6. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from Mansur ibn Buzurj who has said the following: “I once heard abu al-Hassan (a.s.), saying, ‘Washing the head with lotus tree leaves attracts sustenance with a strong attraction.’”

لَمَّا أَمَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ رَسُولَهُ ص بِإِظْهَارِ الْإِسْلَامِ وَ ظَهَرَ الْوَحْيُ رَأَى قِلَّةً مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَ كَثْرَةً مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ فَاهْتَمَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص هَمّاً شَدِيداً فَبَعَثَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَيْهِ جَبْرَئِيلَ ع بِسِدْرٍ مِنْ سِدْرَةِ الْمُنْتَهَى فَغَسَلَ بِهِ رَأْسَهُ فَجَلَا بِهِ هَمَّهُ.

7. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Muhammad ibn Ali from ‘Ubayd ibn Yahya al-Thawriy al-‘ Attar from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al-‘Alawiy from his father from his grandfather who has said the following: “Ali (a.s.), has said, ‘When Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, commanded the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, to publicly announce his mission, he saw the small number of Muslims and the large number of the pagans. He (the Messenger of Allah) felt strongly depressed. Then Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, sent Jibril (a.s.), with lotus tree leaves from the ultimate lotus tree. He washed with it his head and his depression went away.’”
