سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنِ الْكَلْبِ يُمْسِكُ عَلَى صَيْدِهِ وَ قَدْ أَكَلَ مِنْهُ قَالَ لَا بَأْسَ بِمَا أَكَلَ وَ هُوَ لَكَ حَلَالٌ.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn Ali from ibn Faddal from ‘Abd Allah ibn Bukayr from Salim al-Ashal who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a dog which catches the prey, holds it in place and has eaten a part thereof. He (the Imam) said, ‘Dog’s eating is not harmful and it is lawful for you to use it for food.’”
