سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ كَانَ أَبِي ع يُفْتِي فِي زَمَنِ بَنِي أُمَيَّةَ أَنَّ مَا قَتَلَ الْبَازِي وَ الصَّقْرُ فَهُوَ حَلَالٌ وَ كَانَ يَتَّقِيهِمْ وَ أَنَا لَا أَتَّقِيهِمْ وَ هُوَ حَرَامٌ مَا قَتَلَ.

8. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr from al-Mufaddal ibn Salih from Aban ibn Taghlib who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘In the time of banu ‘Umayyah my father (a.s.), would give fatwa that what falcons and hawks kill is lawful for food. He (the Imam) was afraid but I am not afraid and I say that it (what is hunted by falcons and hawks) is not lawful to use for food.”’
