عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ:

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فِي كَمْ أَدَّهِنُ قَالَ فِي كُلِّ سَنَةٍ مَرَّةً فَقُلْتُ إِذَنْ يَرَى النَّاسُ بِي خَصَاصَةً فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أُمَاكِسُهُ فَقَالَ فَفِي كُلِّ شَهْرٍ مَرَّةً لَمْ يَزِدْنِي عَلَيْهَا.

3. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Ishaq ibn Jarir who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about how many times should I apply oil?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Apply oil only once a year.’ I then said, ‘People will consider me as living in destitution.’ I continued asking if I can apply oil once a month or so but he (the Imam) did not increase.’”
