سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ فِي رَجُلٍ تُوُفِّيَ وَ تَرَكَ مَالًا وَ لَهُ أُمٌّ مَمْلُوكَةٌ قَالَ تُشْتَرَى أُمُّهُ وَ تُعْتَقُ ثُمَّ يُدْفَعُ إِلَيْهَا بَقِيَّةُ الْمَالِ.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Najran from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan who has narrated the following: “About the case of a man who dies leaving behind a certain amount of assets and a mother who is owned by someone, I once heard abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘His mother is bought, then the rest of the legacy is given to her.”’
