قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع لَوْ وَجَدْتُ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْعَجَمِ أَقَرَّ بِجُمْلَةِ الْإِسْلَامِ لَمْ يَأْتِهِ شَيْءٌ مِنَ التَّفْسِيرِ زَنَى أَوْ سَرَقَ أَوْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ لَمْ أُقِمْ عَلَيْهِ الْحَدَّ إِذَا جَهِلَهُ إِلَّا أَنْ تَقُومَ عَلَيْهِ بَيِّنَةٌ أَنَّهُ قَدْ أَقَرَّ بِذَلِكَ وَ عَرَفَهُ.

Ali, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from the one who reported it, from Abu Ubeyda who said, ‘Abu Ja’far asws said: ‘If I asws were to find a man from the non-Arabs who accepted with the entirety of Al-Islam, not been given anything from the explanation of adultery, or theft, or drinking the wine, I asws would not establish the Penalty ( Hadd ) upon him when he is ignorant, except if the proof were to be established that he had previously accepted with that, and recognised it’.
