عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ مَعْرُوفِ بْنِ خَرَّبُوذَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ:

صَلَّى أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع بِالنَّاسِ الصُّبْحَ بِالْعِرَاقِ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ وَعَظَهُمْ فَبَكَى وَ أَبْكَاهُمْ مِنْ خَوْفِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَا وَ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ عَهِدْتُ أَقْوَاماً عَلَى عَهْدِ خَلِيلِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ إِنَّهُمْ لَيُصْبِحُونَ وَ يُمْسُونَ شُعْثاً غُبْراً خُمْصاً بَيْنَ أَعْيُنِهِمْ كَرُكَبِ الْمِعْزَى- يَبِيتُونَ لِرَبِّهِمْ سُجَّداً وَ قِياماً يُرَاوِحُونَ بَيْنَ أَقْدَامِهِمْ وَ جِبَاهِهِمْ يُنَاجُونَ رَبَّهُمْ وَ يَسْأَلُونَهُ فَكَاكَ رِقَابِهِمْ مِنَ النَّارِ وَ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُمْ مَعَ هَذَا وَ هُمْ خَائِفُونَ مُشْفِقُونَ.

21. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from al-Hassan ibn Mahbub from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan from Ma’ruf ibn Kharrabuz from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “Once Amir al-Mu’minin (Ali ibn abu Talib) (a.s.) prayed the morning prayer with people in Iraq. After prayer he gave a speech on having fear of Allah. He wept and made people weep. He then said, ‘By Allah, I lived with a people, in the times of my beloved one, the Messenger of Allah, who were ragged, dusty and slim-bellied. Between their eyes it looked like the hooves of a goat. They spent the night in prostration and in standing position before their Lord, only resting on their feet or forehead. They whispered to their Lord to set their necks free from the fire and, by Allah, I saw them in such condition and they still were afraid and anxious (because of the next life).”’

[1]الشعث: تفرق الشعر و عدم اصلاحه و مشطه و تنظيفه. و الاغبر: المتلطخ بالغبار و الركب ما بين اسافل اطراف الفخذ و المعزى خلاف الضان من الغنم. يحتمل أن يكون تلك الأحوال لشدة فقرهم و عدم قدرتهم على ازالتها فالمدح على صبرهم على الفقر. أو المعنى أنهم لا يهتمون بازالتها زائدا على المستحب. أو يقال؛ اذا كان تركها لشدة الاهتمام بالعبادة و خوف الآخرة يكون ممدوحا( آت).ص 236
[2]المراوحة بين الاقدام و الجباه أن يقوم على القدمين مرة و يضع الجبهة على الأرض اخرى ليوصل الراحة إلى كل منهما.ص 236
