مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنِ الْكَاهِلِيِّ قَالَ:

كَتَبْتُ إِلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ع فِي دُعَاءٍ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ مُنْتَهَى عِلْمِهِ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيَّ لَا تَقُولَنَّ مُنْتَهَى عِلْمِهِ فَلَيْسَ لِعِلْمِهِ مُنْتَهًى وَ لَكِنْ قُلْ مُنْتَهَى رِضَاهُ.

English translationMuhammad Sarwar

3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from Safwan ibn Yahya from al-Kahili who said: "I wrote to Abu al-Hasan (al-Kadhim) (as) with a supplication containing, 'Praise be to God to the extent of His knowledge', so he wrote back to me saying: Do not say 'the extent of His knowledge,' for His knowledge has no end. Rather, say, 'the extent of His pleasure.'"
