وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ سَهْلٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَارِدٍ أَنَّ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع سُئِلَ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ- الرَّحْمنُ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوى‌ فَقَالَ

اسْتَوَى مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْ‌ءٍ فَلَيْسَ شَيْ‌ءٌ أَقْرَبَ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ شَيْ‌ءٍ.

7. And with this chain of transmission from Sahl from al-Hasan b. Mahbub from Muhammad b. Maarid that Aba 'Abdillah (AS) was asked about the saying of Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, "The All-Beneficent, settled on the Throne." (20:5) So the Imam answered "He rose above everything [in greatness], so there is not a thing that is closer to him than any other thing."
