أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ الْهُذَلِيِّ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْقَطَّانِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ الصَّيْقَلِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:

شَكَوْتُ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع وَجْداً وَجَدْتُهُ عَلَى ابْنٍ لِي هَلَكَ حَتَّى خِفْتُ عَلَى عَقْلِي فَقَالَ إِذَا أَصَابَكَ مِنْ هَذَا شَيْءٌ فَأَفِضْ مِنْ دُمُوعِكَ فَإِنَّهُ يَسْكُنُ عَنْكَ.

Abu Ali al-Ash’ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Jabbar from abu Muhammad al-Hudhaliy from Ibrahim ibn Khalid al- Qattan from Muhammad ibn Mansur al-Sayqal from his father who has said the following: “I complained before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about feeling extremely sad for the death of my son and I feared for my sanity. He said, ‘When something like this happens, allow your tears to flow; it gives you relief.’”
