4. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa’id from Ali ibn al-Nu’man from Sa‘id al-’A’raj who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of one who while fasting, tastes something but does not swallow. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, it not permissible.’”

[1]حمله الشيخ في التهذيب ج 1 ص 308 على من لا يكون له حاجة إلى ذلك و الرخصة انما وردت في ذلك لصاحبة الصبى او الطباخ الذي يخاف فساد طعامه او من عنده طائر ان لم يزقه هلك فاما من هو مستغن عن جميع ذلك فلا يجوز له أن يذوق بالطعام انتهى. و قال المجلسيّ- رحمه اللّه- بعد نقل هذا الكلام: لا يخفى ما فيه من البعد اذ لا دلالة في الاخبار السابقة على التقييد الذي اعتبره و الأولى الحمل على الكراهة.ص 115
