أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ مَنْ وَجَدَ ضَالَّةً فَلَمْ يُعَرِّفْهَا ثُمَّ وُجِدَتْ عِنْدَهُ فَإِنَّهَا لِرَبِّهَا وَ مِثْلَهَا مِنْ مَالِ الَّذِي كَتَمَهَا.

17. Sahl ibn Ziyad has narrated from ibn Mahbub from Safwan al-Jammal who has said the following: “I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘One who finds a lost animal but does not announce in public what he has found and then it is found by the owner, it then is for the care-taker (owner) or its kind (current value) from the assets of the one who has kept it in hiding.’”
