قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِذَا رَأَيْتَ الرَّجُلَ يُخْرِجُ مِنْ مَالِهِ فِي طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ أَصَابَهُ مِنْ حَلَالٍ وَ إِذَا أَخْرَجَهُ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ أَصَابَهُ مِنْ حَرَامٍ.

33. Ahmad ibn Muhammad has narrated from Muhammad ibn Ali from Ali ibn Asbat from those who narrated to him from Jahm ibn Hamid al-Rawasiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘When you see a man who takes out from his assets in obedience to Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, then you must be certain that he has earned it by lawful ways, and when he takes it in disobedience to Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, you must rest assured that he has earned it in unlawful ways.’”
