Hadith record

4. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad and Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad all from al-Hassan ibn Mahbub from ibn Ri’ab from ‘ Anbasah ibn Mus’ab who has said the following: “This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who had three wives and he married two more women. He went to bed with one of them, then died. He (the Imam) said, ‘The marriage of the woman whom he first married and mentioned her name at the time of pronouncing the terms, is permissible. She deserves inheritance and she must complete waiting period; but if he had gone to bed with the woman who was named and mentioned after the mention of the first woman, her marriage is invalid, she does not deserve inheritance and mahr (dower), but she must complete the waiting period.’”
