سَأَلَ الْحَلَبِيُّ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنْ قَتْلِ الْحَيَّاتِ فَقَالَ

اقْتُلْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ تَجِدُهُ فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ إِلَّا الْجَانَّ وَ نَهَى عَنْ قَتْلِ عَوَامِرِ الْبُيُوتِ وَ قَالَ لَا تَدَعُوهُنَّ مَخَافَةَ تَبِعَاتِهِنَّ فَإِنَّ الْيَهُودَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص قَالَتْ مَنْ قَتَلَ عَامِرَ بَيْتٍ أَصَابَهُ كَذَا وَ كَذَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ تَرَكَهُنَّ مَخَافَةَ تَبِعَاتِهِنَّ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَ إِنَّمَا تَتْرُكُهَا لِأَنَّهَا لَا تُرِيدُكَ وَ قَالَ رُبَّمَا قَتَلْتُهُنَّ فِي بُيُوتِهِنَّ.

Hadith.4234 - Al-Halabi asked Abu Abdullah (as) about killing snakes. Imam (as) said: "Kill everything you find in the wilderness except the jinn." And he forbade killing the household spirits (ʿAwamir) and said: "Do not leave them out of fear of their consequences, for the Jews during the time of the Messenger of Allah (swt), peace be upon him and his family, used to say that whoever killed a household spirit would suffer such-and-such misfortune." Then the Messenger of Allah (swt), peace be upon him and his family, said: "Whoever refrains from killing them out of fear of their consequences is not from me. Rather, leave them alone because they do not intend to harm you." Imam (as) also said: "I sometimes killed them in their houses."

[3]في النهاية الأثيرية في الحديث« انه نهى عن قتل الجنان» بكسر الجيم و تشديد النون- و هي الحيّات التي تكون في البيوت واحدها جان. و في الصحاح الجان حيّة بيضاء. و قال في النهاية أيضا في حديث قتل الحيات« انّ لهذه البيوت عوامر فإذا رأيتم منها شيئا فحرجوا عليه ثلاثا» العوامر الحيات التي تكون في البيوت، واحدها عامر و عامرة، و قيل سمّيت عوامر لطول أعمارها- انتهى، و قيل: سمّيت الحيّة حيّة لطول حياتها و كذا الحيتان.ص 351
