بَابُ الْبَاذَنْجَانِ‌

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ:

كُلُوا الْبَاذَنْجَانَ فَإِنَّهُ يُذْهِبُ الدَّاءَ وَ لَا دَاءَ لَهُ.

1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ‘ Abd Allah ibn Ali ibn ‘Amir from Ibrahim ibn al-Fadl from Ja‘far ibn Yahya from his father who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Eat eggplant because it removes illnesses and does not cause any illness/”

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا قَالَ

قَالَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الثَّالِثِ ع لِبَعْضِ قَهَارِمَتِهِ‌ اسْتَكْثِرُوا لَنَا مِنَ الْبَاذَنْجَانِ فَإِنَّهُ حَارٌّ فِي وَقْتِ الْحَرَارَةِ وَ بَارِدٌ فِي وَقْتِ الْبُرُودَةِ مُعْتَدِلٌ فِي الْأَوْقَاتِ كُلِّهَا جَيِّدٌ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ.

2. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from certain persons of our people who have said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, al-Thalith (a.s.), would say to certain ones of his workers, ‘Bring more eggplant for us because it is warm in hot season and it is cool in cold season and it is balanced in all seasons. It is fine in all conditions/”

الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْهَاشِمِيِّ قَالَ:

قَالَ لِبَعْضِ مَوَالِيهِ أَقْلِلْ لَنَا مِنَ الْبَصَلِ وَ أَكْثِرْ لَنَا مِنَ الْبَاذَنْجَانِ فَقَالَ لَهُ مُسْتَفْهِماً الْبَاذَنْجَانِ قَالَ نَعَمْ الْبَاذَنْجَانُ جَامِعُ الطَّعْمِ مَنْفِيُّ الدَّاءِ صَالِحٌ لِلطَّبِيعَةِ مُنْصِفٌ فِي أَحْوَالِهِ صَالِحٌ لِلشَّيْخِ وَ الشَّابِّ مُعْتَدِلٌ فِي حَرَارَتِهِ وَ بُرُودَتِهِ حَارٌّ فِي مَكَانِ الْحَرَارَةِ وَ بَارِدٌ فِي مَكَانِ الْبُرُودَةِ.

3. Al-Husayn from Muhammad from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from and ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Qasim from ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Hashimiy who has said the following: “He (the Imam), Alayhi al-Salam, once said to a certain one of his servants, ‘You must bring for us less onion and more eggplant/ He inquired saying, ‘Do you mean eggplant? 5 He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, eggplant, it is wholesome in taste, removes illness, is suitable for one’s health, balanced in its condition and it is suitable for the old people. It is balancing in hot and cold seasons; it is hot in hot places and it is cool in cold places/”
