عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ الْبَغْدَادِيِّ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجُعْفِيِّ قَالَ:

ذَكَرَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع الْبَصَلَ فَقَالَ يُطَيِّبُ النَّكْهَةَ وَ يَذْهَبُ بِالْبَلْغَمِ وَ يَزِيدُ فِي الْجِمَاعِ.

1. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Mansur ibn al-‘Abbas from ‘Abd ‘Abd al-’Aziz ibn Hassan from Salih ibn ‘Uqbah from ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Al-Ju‘fiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once mentioned onion and said, ‘It is well flavored and it dissolves phlegm and increases one’s ability to go to bed with his wife.’”

قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ الْبَصَلُ يَذْهَبُ بِالنَّصَبِ وَ يَشُدُّ الْعَصَبَ وَ يَزِيدُ فِي الْخُطَى‌ وَ يَزِيدُ فِي الْمَاءِ وَ يَذْهَبُ بِالْحُمَّى.

2. Abu Ah al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn Salim from Ahmad ibn abu al-Nadr from ‘Amr ibn Shamir from Jabir who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Onion removes illness, strengthens nerves, increases the ability to walk, increases one’s seed and removes fever.’”

عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بُنْدَارَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْهَمَذَانِيِّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْكَسْلَانِ عَنْ مُيَسِّرٍ بَيَّاعِ الزُّطِّيِّ وَ كَانَ خَالَهُ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ‌ كُلُوا الْبَصَلَ فَإِنَّ فِيهِ ثَلَاثَ خِصَالٍ يُطَيِّبُ النَّكْهَةَ وَ يَشُدُّ اللِّثَةَ وَ يَزِيدُ فِي الْمَاءِ وَ الْجِمَاعِ.

3. Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Bandar from his father from Muhammad ibn Ah al-Hamadaniy from al-Hassan ibn Ah al-Kaslan from Muyassir Bayya’ al-Zuttiy who was his maternal uncle has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘You must eat onion; it has three qualities; it is well flavored, brings firmness to one’s gums, increases one’s seeds and the ability to go to bed with one’s wife.’”

عَنْهُ عَنِ السَّيَّارِيِّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ الدِّينَوَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ دُرُسْتَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ:

الْبَصَلُ يُطَيِّبُ النَّكْهَةَ وَ يَشُدُّ الظَّهْرَ وَ يُرِقُّ الْبَشَرَةَ.

It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from al-Sayyariy from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from Ahmad ibn al- Mubarak al-Daynawariy from abu ‘Uthman from Durust who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Onion gives fine flavor, strengthens one’s back and clears the skin.’”

5. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from Muhammad ibn Ahmad from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘When you enter a town eat its onion, it keeps plague away from you.’”
