أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الْمَاضِي ع قَالَ:

قُلْتُ لَهُ رَجُلٌ خَلَّفَ عِنْدَ أَهْلِهِ نَفَقَةً أَلْفَيْنِ لِسَنَتَيْنِ عَلَيْهَا زَكَاةٌ قَالَ إِنْ كَانَ شَاهِداً فَعَلَيْهِ زَكَاةٌ وَ إِنْ كَانَ غَائِباً فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ زَكَاةٌ.

1. Ahmad ibn Idris has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “I once asked abu al-Hassan, who passed away (a.s.), about the two thousand that one has left with his family for two years’ expenses is there Zakat on it? He (the Imam) said, ‘If he is present, there is Zakat due but if he is not present Zakat is not due on it.’”
