1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn Ali from certain persons of our people who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘One in the state of Ihram cannot marry or be married, propose marriage or bear witness to marriage; and if one marries, it is invalid.”’

1. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad and Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father all from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn abu Najran and Ahmad ibn abu Nasr from abu Basir who has said the following: “He (the Imam) (a.s.), has said, ‘It is permissible if she extends for you and you extend for her when the time for both of you expires, by saying, ‘I have made you lawful to myself up to another period of time with your agreement’ and this is not lawful for anyone other than you until it expires.’”

2. Ahmad has narrated from Safwan ibn Yahya from Hariz from ‘Abd al- Rahman ibn abu ‘Abd Allah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘A man from Ansar got married in the state of Ihram, and the Messenger of Allah, considered his marriage invalid.’”

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ الرَّجُلُ يَتَزَوَّجُ الْمَرْأَةَ مُتْعَةً فَيَتَزَوَّجُهَا عَلَى شَهْرٍ ثُمَّ إِنَّهَا تَقَعُ فِي قَلْبِهِ فَيُحِبُّ أَنْ يَكُونَ شَرْطُهُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ شَهْرٍ فَهَلْ يَجُوزُ أَنْ يَزِيدَهَا فِي أَجْرِهَا وَ يَزْدَادَ فِي الْأَيَّامِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَنْقَضِيَ أَيَّامُهُ الَّتِي شَرَطَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ لَا لَا يَجُوزُ شَرْطَانِ فِي شَرْطٍ قُلْتُ فَكَيْفَ يَصْنَعُ قَالَ يَتَصَدَّقُ عَلَيْهَا بِمَا بَقِيَ مِنَ الْأَيَّامِ ثُمَّ يَسْتَأْنِفُ شَرْطاً جَدِيداً.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from ‘Amr ibn ‘Uthman from Ibrahim ibn al-Fadl and A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ‘Isma’il ibn Mehran from Muhammad ibn Aslam and Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from Muhammad ibn Ali from Muhammad ibn Aslam from Ibrahim ibn al-Fadl al-Hashimiy from Aban ibn Taghlib who has said the following: “This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who marries a woman in the manner of al-Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) for the duration of one month. Then it comes to his heart and he likes to have a condition for more than a month; if it is permissible to increase in her mahr (dower) to extend the number of days before it (the time already set) expires. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, two conditions in one and the same condition are not permissible.’ I then asked, ‘What must he do about it?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘She can give up the remaining of the time in his favor as charity and then initiate a new condition of extension of time.’”

3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from those who narrated to him who has said the following: “He (the Imam) (a.s.), has said, ‘If a woman marries a man in the manner of al-Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) she must complete waiting period for others. However, if the same man wants to marry her again because of him she does not need to complete a waiting period, so she can marry him in the manner of al-Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) whenever she wants.’”

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad, from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ibn Mahbub from Sama‘ah ibn Mehran who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is not proper for one who is not in the state of Ihram to marry one who is in the state of Ihram, knowing that it is not lawful.’ I then asked, ‘What happens if they marry and perform sexual relation in the state of Ihram? He (the Imam) said, ‘If they both know the rule, each one owes one badanah, and she owes it if she is in the state of Ihram, but if she is not in the state of Ihram, there is nothing on her, unless she knows that the man was in the state of Ihram. If she knows it and gets married, then she owes one badanah.’”
