The Celery

1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa or others from Qutaybah ibn Mehran from Hammad ibn Zakariya who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘You must eat celery because it is the food of Elias, al-Yasa‘ and Usha‘ ibn Nun (names of Israelite prophets).”’

2. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith Nuh ibn Shu’ayb al-Naysaburiy from Muhammad ibn al-Hassan ibn Ali Yaqtin as I know from Nadir al-Khadim who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), once mentioned celery and said, ‘You desire to eat celery and there is no living thing that does not rub against it.’” (It can be for or against it depending on if, they rub for cure or to leave poison).
