عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُمَرَ الْيَمَانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع أَنَّهُ قَالَ:

مَا بَعَثَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ نَبِيّاً قَطُّ إِلَّا وَ فِي عِلْمِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَنَّهُ إِذَا أَكْمَلَ لَهُ دِينَهُ كَانَ فِيهِ تَحْرِيمُ الْخَمْرِ وَ لَمْ تَزَلِ الْخَمْرُ حَرَاماً إِنَّ الدِّينَ أَنَّمَا يُحَوَّلُ مِنْ خَصْلَةٍ إِلَى أُخْرَى فَلَوْ كَانَ ذَلِكَ جُمْلَةً قُطِعَ بِهِمْ دُونَ الدِّينِ.

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Ibrahim ibn ‘Umar al-Yamaniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ’Every time Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, sent a Prophet it was in the knowledge of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, that in the case of completing His religion wine must have been made unlawful. It had to remain unlawful, however, religion is to change the habits one after the other. Were such change to take place all at once, people would boycott religion as a whole.’”

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from certain persons of his people from ‘Asem ibn Humayd from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has narrated the following: “I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about the case of a man who has testimony; if it is obligatory on him to take an oath. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, it is not obligatory on him/”

إِذَا أَقَامَ الرَّجُلُ الْبَيِّنَةَ عَلَى حَقِّهِ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ يَمِينٌ فَإِنْ لَمْ يُقِمِ الْبَيِّنَةَ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ الَّذِي ادُّعِيَ عَلَيْهِ الْيَمِينَ فَإِنْ أَبَى أَنْ يَحْلِفَ فَلَا حَقَّ لَهُ. - عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ مِثْلَهُ.

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam or others from Aban from abu al-‘Abbas who has narrated the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If a man presents testimony to prove his right, it then is not obligatory on him to take an oath; but if he does not present testimony and the defendant turns the oath to him and he (plaintiff) declines to take an oath, he then does not have any right.”’ Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Aban from a man from abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has narrated a similar Hadith.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad from Hariz from Zurarah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ’Every time Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, sent a Prophet, it was in the knowledge of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, that in the case of completing his religion wine must have been made unlawful. It had to remain unlawful, however, religion is to change the habits one after the other. Were such change to take place at once people would boycott religion as a whole.’ Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘No one is more kind than Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, and it is of the kindness of Allah, most Blessed, most High, that He transfers them from one habit to the other. Were He to change them at once they would have been destroyed.’”
