عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ جَمِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ:

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from and Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from all from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn al-Hakam who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Spaciousness of the house is of one’s good fortune.”’

إِنَّ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ع اشْتَرَى دَاراً وَ أَمَرَ مَوْلًى لَهُ أَنْ يَتَحَوَّلَ إِلَيْهَا وَ قَالَ إِنَّ مَنْزِلَكَ ضَيِّقٌ فَقَالَ قَدْ أَحْدَثَ هَذِهِ الدَّارَ أَبِي فَقَالَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ع إِنْ كَانَ أَبُوكَ أَحْمَقَ يَنْبَغِي أَنْ تَكُونَ مِثْلَهُ‌.

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Mu’ammar ibn Khallad who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), purchased a house and instructed one of his Mawla’ to move in saying, ‘Your house is congested.’ He said, ‘My father has established this house.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If your father was dimwitted, is it proper that you also be like him?”’

ثَلَاثَةٌ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ فِيهَا رَاحَةٌ دَارٌ وَاسِعَةٌ تُوَارِي عَوْرَتَهُ وَ سُوءَ حَالِهِ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَ امْرَأَةٌ صَالِحَةٌ تُعِينُهُ عَلَى أَمْرِ الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ وَ ابْنَةٌ أَوْ أُخْتٌ يُخْرِجُهَا مِنْ مَنْزِلِهِ إِمَّا بِمَوْتٍ أَوْ بِتَزَوُّجٍ.

3. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad and Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad all from Sa‘id ibn Junah from Mutarrif Mawla’ Ma‘n who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Three things provide comfort for a believing person. Of such matters one is a spacious house which provides him privacy for his bad conditions among people, a virtuous wife who helps him in the matters of this and the next life and a daughter or sister whom he sends out of his house in marriage or death.’”

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Nuh ibn Shu’ayb from Sulayman ibn Rashid from his father from Bashir who has said the following: “I once heard abu al-Hassan (a.s.), saying, ‘Spaciousness of the house and extra help from the servants are of the means of happy living.’”

5. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Mansur ibn al-‘Abbas from Sa‘id from more than one person who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), was asked about the excellence of the worldly life. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is in spacious house and in the great number of friends.’”

6. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from Ibrahim ibn abu al-Balad from Ali ibn abu al-Mughirah who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Of the misfortunes in the worldly life is a small and congested house.’”

7. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfaliy from al-Sakuniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Of the good fortune for a Muslim man is spaciousness of the house.’”

شَكَا رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص أَنَّ الدُّورَ قَدِ اكْتَنَفَتْهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ص ارْفَعْ صَوْتَكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتَ وَ سَلِ اللَّهَ أَنْ يُوَسِّعَ عَلَيْكَ.

8. Through the same chain of narrators as that of the previous Hadith the following is narrated: “Once, a man of the people of al-Ansar complained before the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, that houses have caused great congestions for him. The Holy Prophet said to him, ‘Raise your voice as much as you can and ask Allah to make it spacious for you.’”
