One Who Causes Suffering to Muslims and Belittles Them

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ‌ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لِيَأْذَنْ بِحَرْبٍ مِنِّي مَنْ آذَى عَبْدِيَ الْمُؤْمِنَ وَ لْيَأْمَنْ غَضَبِي مَنْ أَكْرَمَ عَبْدِيَ الْمُؤْمِنَ وَ لَوْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مِنْ خَلْقِي فِي الْأَرْضِ فِيمَا بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَ الْمَغْرِبِ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ وَاحِدٌ مَعَ إِمَامٍ عَادِلٍ لَاسْتَغْنَيْتُ بِعِبَادَتِهِمَا عَنْ جَمِيعِ مَا خَلَقْتُ فِي أَرْضِي وَ لَقَامَتْ سَبْعُ سَمَاوَاتٍ

“I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has said, “He who causes suffering to the believers has declared war against Me. قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع‌ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ نَادَى مُنَادٍ أَيْنَ الصُّدُودُ لِأَوْلِيَائِي‌[1] فَيَقُومُ قَوْمٌ لَيْسَ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ لَحْمٌ فَيُقَالُ هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ آذَوُا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ نَصَبُوا لَهُمْ وَ عَانَدُوهُمْ وَ عَنَّفُوهُمْ فِي دِينِهِمْ ثُمَّ يُؤْمَرُ بِهِمْ إِلَى جَهَنَّمَ.

‘When it will be the Day of Judgment, an announcer will announce, ‘‘Where are those causing obstacles and hindrance for My friends.” A people will rise who will have no flesh on their faces. It will be said, ‘These are the one’s who made the believers suffer; treated them with animosity, opposition, and violence in the

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى مَنْ أَهَانَ لِي وَلِيّاً فَقَدْ أَرْصَدَ لِمُحَارَبَتِي‌[2].

‘‘The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Allah, the Most Blessed, the Most High, has said, ‘‘Whoever insults any of My friends has waged a war against Me.’”

مَنْ حَقَّرَ مُؤْمِناً مِسْكِيناً أَوْ غَيْرَ مِسْكِينٍ لَمْ يَزَلِ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ حَاقِراً لَهُ مَاقِتاً حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ عَنْ مَحْقَرَتِهِ إِيَّاهُ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Whoever looks down upon a believer, destitute or not, Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, continues looking down upon him and hate him until he changes his attitude as such toward a believer.’”

“I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘The Messenger of Allah has said, “Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has said, ‘Whoever insults any of My friends has waged a war against Me. Whoever of the servant seeks closeness to Me should know that there is nothing in that matter more beloved to Me than his fulfilling

لَمَّا أُسْرِيَ بِالنَّبِيِّ ص قَالَ يَا رَبِّ مَا حَالُ الْمُؤْمِنِ عِنْدَكَ- قَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ مَنْ أَهَانَ لِي وَلِيّاً فَقَدْ بَارَزَنِي بِالْمُحَارَبَةِ وَ أَنَا أَسْرَعُ شَيْ‌ءٍ إِلَى نُصْرَةِ أَوْلِيَائِي وَ مَا تَرَدَّدْتُ عَنْ شَيْ‌ءٍ أَنَا فَاعِلُهُ كَتَرَدُّدِي عَنْ وَفَاةِ الْمُؤْمِنِ يَكْرَهُ الْمَوْتَ وَ أَكْرَهُ مَسَاءَتَهُ وَ إِنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِيَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَنْ لَا يُصْلِحُهُ إِلَّا الْغِنَى وَ

مَنِ اسْتَذَلَّ مُؤْمِناً وَ اسْتَحْقَرَهُ لِقِلَّةِ ذَاتِ يَدِهِ وَ لِفَقْرِهِ شَهَرَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رُءُوسِ الْخَلَائِقِ‌[2].

“Whoever looks down upon a believer or belittles him because of his small resources or poverty, on the Day of Judgment Allah will make (his disgrace) public to all creatures.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ لَقَدْ أَسْرَى رَبِّي بِي فَأَوْحَى إِلَيَّ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْحِجَابِ‌[3] مَا أَوْحَى وَ شَافَهَنِي إِلَى أَنْ قَالَ لِي يَا مُحَمَّدُ مَنْ أَذَلَّ لِي وَلِيّاً فَقَدْ أَرْصَدَنِي بِالْمُحَارَبَةِ وَ مَنْ حَارَبَنِي حَارَبْتُهُ قُلْتُ يَا رَبِّ وَ مَنْ وَلِيُّكَ هَذَا فَقَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّ مَنْ حَارَبَكَ حَارَبْتَهُ قَالَ لِي ذَاكَ مَنْ أَخَذْتُ مِيثَاقَهُ لَكَ وَ لِوَصِيِّكَ وَ لِذُرِّيَّتِكُم

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘My Lord took me for a journey and revealed to me from behind the curtain whatever He wanted to reveal, and spoke to me vocally and said to me, “O Muhammad, whoever insults any of My friends has waged a war against Me. Whoever fights Me, I fight him.” I then said, ‘O Lord, who is this

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ مَنِ اسْتَذَلَّ عَبْدِيَ الْمُؤْمِنَ فَقَدْ بَارَزَنِي بِالْمُحَارَبَةِ وَ مَا تَرَدَّدْتُ فِي شَيْ‌ءٍ أَنَا فَاعِلُهُ كَتَرَدُّدِي فِي عَبْدِيَ الْمُؤْمِنِ إِنِّي أُحِبُّ لِقَاءَهُ فَيَكْرَهُ الْمَوْتَ فَأَصْرِفُهُ عَنْهُ- وَ إِنَّهُ لَيَدْعُونِي فِي الْأَمْرِ فَأَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُ بِمَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَهُ‌[1].
