Compassion and Leniency

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ‌ تَوَاصَلُوا وَ تَبَارُّوا وَ تَرَاحَمُوا وَ تَعَاطَفُوا.

3. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Muhammad ibn Sinan from ‘Abd Allah ibn Yahya al-Kahili who has said the following: “I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) saying, ‘Maintain good relations among yourselves, do good to one another, be compassionate and lenient to each other.’”

يَحِقُّ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ الِاجْتِهَادُ فِي التَّوَاصُلِ وَ التَّعَاوُنُ عَلَى التَّعَاطُفِ وَ الْمُوَاسَاةُ لِأَهْلِ الْحَاجَةِ وَ تَعَاطُفُ بَعْضِهِمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ حَتَّى تَكُونُوا كَمَا أَمَرَكُمُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ‌ رُحَماءُ بَيْنَهُمْ‌ مُتَرَاحِمِينَ مُغْتَمِّينَ لِمَا غَابَ عَنْكُمْ مِنْ أَمْرِهِمْ عَلَى مَا مَضَى عَلَيْهِ مَعْشَرُ الْأَنْصَارِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص.

“It is worthwhile for a Muslim to work assiduously to maintain good relations, to cooperate in kindness and assistance for the needy and to be compassionate to each other. Live out this so that you can be as Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has commanded you to be, ‘. . . compassionate to each other, . . .’ (48
