Lack of Virtue in Woman

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ النَّاجِي مِنَ الرِّجَالِ قَلِيلٌ وَ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ أَقَلُّ وَ أَقَلُّ قِيلَ وَ لِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ لِأَنَّهُنَّ كَافِرَاتُ الْغَضَبِ- مُؤْمِنَاتُ الرِّضَا[1].

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Of men very few find salvation and from women that number is even less and less.’ It was asked, ‘Why is it so O Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensat

لِامْرَأَةِ سَعْدٍ هَنِيئاً لَكِ يَا خَنْسَاءُ فَلَوْ لَمْ يُعْطِكِ اللَّهُ شَيْئاً إِلَّا ابْنَتَكِ أُمَّ الْحُسَيْنِ لَقَدْ أَعْطَاكِ اللَّهُ خَيْراً كَثِيراً إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ الْمَرْأَةِ الصَّالِحَةِ فِي النِّسَاءِ كَمَثَلِ الْغُرَابِ الْأَعْصَمِ فِي الْغِرْبَانِ‌[2] وَ هُوَ الْأَبْيَضُ إِحْدَى الرِّجْلَيْنِ.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once said to the wife of Sa‘d, ‘How fortunate it is for you O Khansa’, if Allah will not give you anything else besides your daughter, mother of al-Husayn; still Allah has given you a great deal of good. The case of a virtuous woman among women is like an al- A‘sam crow among the crows. It is th

مَثَلُ الْمَرْأَةِ الْمُؤْمِنَةِ مَثَلُ الشَّامَةِ[3] فِي الثَّوْرِ الْأَسْوَدِ.

‘The existence of a believing woman (in rarity) is like shammah (a bright mark) on the body of a black bull.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ الْمَرْأَةِ الصَّالِحَةِ مَثَلُ الْغُرَابِ الْأَعْصَمِ الَّذِي لَا يَكَادُ يُقْدَرُ عَلَيْهِ قِيلَ وَ مَا الْغُرَابُ الْأَعْصَمُ الَّذِي لَا يَكَادُ يُقْدَرُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ الْأَبْيَضُ إِحْدَى رِجْلَيْهِ.

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘The existence of a virtuous woman is like an al-A‘sam crow which is so rare to find.’ It was asked, ‘What is an al- A‘sam crow?’ He (the Messenger of Allah)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ مَا لِإِبْلِيسَ جُنْدٌ أَعْظَمُ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ وَ الْغَضَبِ.

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘No other thing serves Satan as the greatest army as women and anger do.’”

إِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ إِذَا كَبِرَتْ ذَهَبَ خَيْرُ شَطْرَيْهَا وَ بَقِيَ شَرُّهُمَا ذَهَبَ جَمَالُهَا وَ عَقِمَ رَحِمُهَا وَ احْتَدَّ لِسَانُهَا.

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘When woman becomes old both parts of her goodness vanish and both parts of wickedness remain. Her beauty goes and she becomes barren and her tongue becomes very sharp.’”
