أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَنْ رَجُلٍ اصْطَادَ سَمَكَةً فَرَبَطَهَا بِخَيْطٍ وَ أَرْسَلَهَا فِي الْمَاءِ فَمَاتَتْ أَ تُؤْكَلُ قَالَ لَا.

4. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from abu Ayyub who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who catches fish, then ties it to a string, then sends it in the water where it dies; if he can use it for food. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, he must not use it for food.’”
