قُلْتُ لَهُ بِمَ يُعْرَفُ النَّاجِي قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ فِعْلُهُ لِقَوْلِهِ مُوَافِقاً فَأَثْبَتَ لَهُ الشَّهَادَةَ وَ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِعْلُهُ لِقَوْلِهِ مُوَافِقاً فَإِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ مُسْتَوْدَعٌ.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Muhammad ibn Sinan from al-Mufaddal ibn ‘Umar who has said the following. “I asked Imam abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.), ‘What are the facts that help one know those who have gained their salvation?’ The Imam replied, “One whose words agree with his deeds you must consider his testimony as valid and one whose words do not agree with his deeds (if he may have faith) it is temporarily.’”

[1]بصيغة الامر و في بعض النسخ[ فانما بث] من البث بمعنى النشر و في بعضها:[ فانما بت] من البت بمعنى القطع؛ و في بعضها:[ فانما أثبت] و في بعضها:[ فانما له الشهادة] و سيأتي هذا الحديث في باب المستودع و المعار و في بعض نسخه فاتت له الشهادة بالنجاة و استظهرها المجلسيّ رضوان اللّه عليه.ص 45
[2]أي إيمانه غير مستقر و غير ثابت في قلبه بل يزول بادنى شبهة فهو كالوديعة.( آت)ص 45
