قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ رُبَّمَا حَضَرْتُ مَعَهُمُ الْعَشَاءَ فَيَجِيئُونَ بِالنَّبِيذِ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَإِنْ أَنَا لَمْ أَشْرَبْهُ خِفْتُ أَنْ يَقُولُوا فُلَانِيٌ فَكَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ فَقَالَ اكْسِرْهُ بِالْمَاءِ قُلْتُ فَإِذَا أَنَا كَسَرْتُهُ بِالْمَاءِ أَشْرَبُهُ قَالَ لَا.

13. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Hamid from Yunus ibn Ya‘qub from ‘Amr ibn Marwan who has said the following: “I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I may go with these people for dinner and they bring al-Nabidh thereafter. If I do not drink I fear they may say, ‘He is of so and so (Ja‘fariy). What must I do in such case?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘You can break it with water.’ I then asked, ‘When I break it with water can I then drink it?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘No, you cannot drink.’”

[2]قال الفيض- رحمه اللّه-: لعله أراد بقوله:« اشربه» يحل لي شربه من غير ضرورة أيضا انتهى. و نقل العلّامة المجلسيّ عن والده- رحمهما اللّه- انه قال: الظاهر أن سؤاله ثانيا كان عاما لا في حال التقية و الا فلا فائدة في الجواب بكسره بالماء و يمكن أن يكون الجواب الآخر كناية عن النهى عن الجلوس معهم.ص 410
