Hadith record

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Sayf ibn ‘Amirah from abu Bakr al- Hadramiy who has said the following: “Once abu ‘Alqamah, al-Harith ibn al-Mughirah, abu Hassan and I were with abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), and ‘Alqamah had applied hair dye with henna, al-Harith had applied hair dye with woad and abu Hassan would not apply hair dye. Every man pointing to his beard asked him (the Imam), ‘What do you say about it (hair dye), may Allah grant you kindness ? 5 Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), said, ‘It is very good . 5 They asked, ‘Did abu Ja’far (a.s.), apply hair dye ? 5 He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, when he married al-Thaqafiyah, her slave-girls applied hair dye to his hairs. 5 ”
