إِذَا أَقَرَّ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بِالْقَتْلِ قُتِلَ إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْهِ شُهُودٌ فَإِنْ رَجَعَ وَ قَالَ لَمْ أَفْعَلْ تُرِكَ وَ لَمْ يُقْتَلْ.

Ali, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr,f rom Jameel Bin Darraj, from one of his companions, (It has been narrated) from one of the two asws (5 th or 6 th Imam asws ) having said: ‘When the man accepts upon himself with the murder, he would be killed if there do not happent to be witnessed. So if he were to retract (his confession), and says, ‘I did not do it’, he would be left alone and would not be killed’.
