قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع فِي كَلَامٍ لَهُ ضَعْ أَمْرَ أَخِيكَ عَلَى أَحْسَنِهِ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَكَ مَا يَغْلِبُكَ مِنْهُ وَ لَا تَظُنَّنَّ بِكَلِمَةٍ خَرَجَتْ مِنْ أَخِيكَ سُوءاً وَ أَنْتَ تَجِدُ لَهَا فِي الْخَيْرِ مَحْمِلًا.

3. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from his father from those whom he has mentioned (in his book) from al-Husayn ibn al-Mukhtar from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) has said in one of his speeches, ‘Deal with the issues related to your brother (in belief) with best interpretations until you receive overwhelming evidence to support the facts. Do not act on (evil) guesswork about a word that has come from your brother (in belief) as long as you can manage to find a place for it in goodness.’”

[1]« ضع أمر أخيك» أي احمل ما صدر عن أخيك من قول أو فعل على أحسن محتملاته و إن كان مرجوحا من غير تجسس حتّى يأتيك منه أمر لا يمكنك تأويله، فان الظنّ قد يخطئ و التجسس منهى عنه و في بعض النسخ[ يقلبك] بالقاف.ص 362
