قَالَ لِي أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ع إِذَا كَانَ لَكَ يَا سَمَاعَةُ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ حَاجَةٌ فَقُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلِيٍّ فَإِنَّ لَهُمَا عِنْدَكَ شَأْناً مِنَ الشَّأْنِ وَ قَدْراً مِنَ الْقَدْرِ فَبِحَقِّ ذَلِكَ الشَّأْنِ وَ بِحَقِّ ذَلِكَ الْقَدْرِ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ أَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِي كَذَا وَ كَذَا فَإِنَّهُ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ لَمْ يَبْقَ مَلَكٌ مُقَرَّبٌ وَ لَا نَبِيٌّ مُرْسَلٌ وَ لَا مُؤْمِنٌ مُمْتَحَنٌ إِلَّا وَ هُوَ يَحْتَاجُ إِلَيْهِمَا فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ.

21. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from certain individuals of his people from Ibrahim ibn Hanan from Ali ibn Sawrah from Sama’a who said: “Abu al-Hassan (as) said to me: 'O Sama’a, whenever you have a request before Allah, the Most Majestic and Most Holy, say this: ‘O Allah, I ask you by the right of Muhammad and Ali, for they have a special status and a high rank with You, and a decree from Your decree. So by the right of that status and by the right of that decree, I ask You to send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and to do such and such for me. For on the Day of Resurrection, there will not be a close angel, nor a sent prophet, nor a tested believer, except that they will be in need of them both on that day.’”
