Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ‘Isma’il ibn Marrar from Yunus al-Nadr ibn Suwayd from Musa ibn Bakr from Zurarah ibn ‘A‘yan who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘The amount of mahr (dower) is that upon which people agree and it can be little or a great deal, in an advantageous marriage or non-advantageous marriage.’”
