إِنَّمَا يُصَامُ فِي يَوْمِ الْأَرْبِعَاءِ لِأَنَّهُ لَمْ تُعَذَّبْ أُمَّةٌ فِيمَا مَضَى إِلَّا يَوْمَ الْأَرْبِعَاءِ وَسَطَ الشَّهْرِ فَيُسْتَحَبُّ أَنْ يُصَامَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمُ.

Hadith.1791 - In the narration of Ishaq ibn Ammar from Abu Abdullah (Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as)), Imam (as) said: "Fasting on Wednesday is prescribed because no nation in the past was punished except on a Wednesday in the middle of the month. Therefore, it is recommended to fast on that day."

[3]لا يخفى أن المستفاد من حصر العذاب للامم السابقة في الاربعاء ينافى بظاهره ما تدلّ عليه رواية حماد السابقة من أن نزول العذاب عليهم في الأيّام الثلاثة، و يمكن الجمع بان قوله عليه السلام« وسط الشهر» متعلق بقوله« لم يعذب» لا بيوم الاربعاء فالمعنى أنه لم يعذب أمّة وسط الشهر أو في العشر الوسط الا في يوم الاربعاء، فلا ينافى كون العذاب في غير العشر الاوسط في يوم الخميس كما ورد في رواية حماد.( سلطان).ص 83
