[١]الضمير في« له» للصادق عليه السلام و العورة كل ما يستحيى منه و غرضه أن المراد بهذا الخبر إفشاء سره.
[٢]السفلين: العورتين و كنى عنهما لقبح التصريح بهما( آت).
[٣]في بعض النسخ بصيغة الغياب في الجميع.
[٤]الشماتة: الفرح ببلية العدو و يقال: شمت به بالكسر يشمت شماتة
[٥]كل شيء أبديته و بديته: أظهرته.
[٦]بكسر السين و تخفيف الباء مصدر، و بفتح السين و تشديد الباء صيغة مبالغة.
[٧]في بعض النسخ[ كالشرف] و في بعضها[ كالمشرق].

قُلْتُ لَهُ عَوْرَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِ حَرَامٌ قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ تَعْنِي سُفْلَيْهِ قَالَ لَيْسَ حَيْثُ تَذْهَبُ إِنَّمَا هِيَ إِذَاعَةُ سِرِّهِ.
2. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Ahmad from al- Hassan ibn Mahbub from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan who has said the following: “Once I asked him (abu ‘Abd Allah) (a.s.) ‘Is it unlawful to publicize the secrets and privacy of a believer before another believer?’ The Imam said, ‘Yes, it is unlawful.’ I then asked, ‘Do you thereby (privacy) mean his two lower organs (anus and genitals)?’ The Imam said, ‘It is not what you thought it is. It is to publicize his secrets and private matters.’”

مَا هُوَ أَنْ يَنْكَشِفَ فَتَرَى مِنْهُ شَيْئاً إِنَّمَا هُوَ أَنْ تَرْوِيَ عَلَيْهِ أَوْ تَعِيبَهُ.
3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yunus from al- Husayn ibn Mukhtar from Zayd from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) the following: “About the Hadith that says, ‘Privacy of a believer is unlawful for another believer,’ the Imam has said, ‘It is not that they (genitals) are exposed and one sees certain parts of them. It is to make certain narrations against him to reproach and defame him.’”

لَا تُبْدِي الشَّمَاتَةَ لِأَخِيكَ فَيَرْحَمَهُ اللَّهُ وَ يُصَيِّرَهَا بِكَ وَ قَالَ مَنْ شَمِتَ بِمُصِيبَةٍ نَزَلَتْ بِأَخِيهِ لَمْ يَخْرُجْ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا حَتَّى يُفْتَتَنَ.
1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from al-Hassan ibn Ali ibn Faddal from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad al-Ash’ari from Aban ibn ‘Abd al-Malik from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Do not express joy at the trouble of your brother (in belief); Allah may grant him a favor and transfer that trouble to you.’ The Imam also said, ‘Whoever rejoices at the suffering that has come upon his brother (in belief) he will not leave this world before going through such suffering himself.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص سِبَابُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَالْمُشْرِفِ عَلَى الْهَلَكَةِ.
1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfali from al-Sakuni from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Reviling a believer is like one’s positioning one’s self at the verge of destruction. ’”

2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Husayn ibn Sa’id from Fadalah ibn Ayyub from ‘Abd Allah ibn Bukayr from abu Basir from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Reviling a believer is a gross sin, fighting him is disbelief, eating his flesh (backbiting) is disobedience and the illegality of consuming his property is like the illegality of spilling his blood (taking his life).”’
