سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ أَوْ يَشْرَبُ بِهَا فَقَالَ لَا يَأْكُلْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَ لَا يَشْرَبْ بِشِمَالِهِ وَ لَا يَتَنَاوَلْ بِهَا شَيْئاً.
3. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Sama‘ah who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who eats or drinks with his left hand. He (the Imam) said, ‘He must not eat with his left hand and must not drink with his left hand or lift up anything with it.’”

خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص قَبْلَ الْغَدَاةِ وَ مَعَهُ كِسْرَةٌ قَدْ غَمَسَهَا فِي اللَّبَنِ وَ هُوَ يَأْكُلُ وَ يَمْشِي وَ بِلَالٌ يُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ ص.
1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from af-Nawfafiy from af-Sakuniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that once the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, came out in the morning with a piece of bread in his hand which he had immersed in milk. He (the Messenger of Allah) walked while eating and Bilal said ‘Iqamah for Salat (prayer). He (the Messenger of Allah) then performed Salat (prayer) with people.”’

قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع لَا بَأْسَ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الرَّجُلُ وَ هُوَ يَمْشِي كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ.
2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from his father from the one who narrated to him from ‘ Abd al- Rahman al-‘Arzamiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘It is not unlawful if a man eats while walking. The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, ate while walking.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص طَعَامُ الْوَاحِدِ يَكْفِي الِاثْنَيْنِ وَ طَعَامُ الِاثْنَيْنِ يَكْفِي الثَّلَاثَةَ وَ طَعَامُ الثَّلَاثَةِ يَكْفِي الْأَرْبَعَةَ.
1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Yahya from Ghiyath ibn Ibrahim who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Food for one is sufficient for two, food for two is sufficient for three and food for three is sufficient for four people.”’

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص الطَّعَامُ إِذَا جَمَعَ أَرْبَعَ خِصَالٍ فَقَدْ تَمَّ إِذَا كَانَ مِنْ حَلَالٍ وَ كَثُرَتِ الْأَيْدِي وَ سُمِّيَ فِي أَوَّلِهِ وَ حُمِدَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فِي آخِرِهِ.
2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfaliy from al-Sakuniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has stated this Hadith. ‘The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘A food with four characteristics is complete, that it is lawful, numerousness of hands on it, mention of the name of Allah on it, and praise of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, at its end.’”
