بَابُ لُبْسِ الصُّوفِ وَ الشَّعْرِ وَ الْوَبَرِ

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ جَدِّهِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ:

لَا تَلْبَسِ الصُّوفَ وَ الشَّعْرَ إِلَّا مِنْ عِلَّةٍ.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Qasim ibn Yahya from his grandfather al-Hassan ibn Rashid from abu Basir who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Do not wear wool or hairs unless because of illness.’”

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع قَالَ:

الْبَسُوا الثِّيَابَ مِنَ الْقُطْنِ فَإِنَّهُ لِبَاسُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ لِبَاسُنَا وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَلْبَسُ الصُّوفَ وَ الشَّعْرَ إِلَّا مِنْ عِلَّةٍ.

2. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman from Shu’ayb from abu Basir who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘You must wear clothes of cotton because it is the cloth of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, as well as our cloth. He (the Messenger of Allah) did not wear wool or hairs except because of illness.’”

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الثَّانِي ع إِنَّ بِلَادَنَا بِلَادٌ بَارِدَةٌ فَمَا تَقُولُ فِي لُبْسِ هَذَا الْوَبَرِ قَالَ الْبَسْ مِنْهَا مَا أُكِلَ وَ ضُمِنَ‌.

3. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ‘Uthman ibn Sa‘id from ‘Abd al-Karim al-Hamadaniy from abu Tamamah who has said the following: “I once asked abu Ja‘far, al-Thaniy (a.s.), saying, ‘Our land is cold. What do you say about wearing fur?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Wear that which is from edible animals and verify (that it is from edible animals).”’

أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ الْخَزَّازِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:

رَأَيْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع وَ عَلَيْهِ قَمِيصٌ غَلِيظٌ خَشِنٌ تَحْتَ ثِيَابِهِ وَ فَوْقَهَا جُبَّةُ صُوفٍ وَ فَوْقَهَا قَمِيصٌ غَلِيظٌ فَمَسِسْتُهَا فَقُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَكْرَهُونَ لِبَاسَ الصُّوفِ فَقَالَ كَلَّا كَانَ أَبِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ع يَلْبَسُهَا وَ كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ع يَلْبَسُهَا وَ كَانُوا ع يَلْبَسُونَ أَغْلَظَ ثِيَابِهِمْ إِذَا قَامُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَ نَحْنُ نَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ.

4. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from ibn Faddal from Muhammad ibn al-Hassan ibn Kathir al- Khazzaz from his father who has said the following: “I saw abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), wearing a shirt of rough texture underneath his clothes, over which was a woolen gown over which was a thick shirt and I felt it, and said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, people dislike wearing wool.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Not so, my father, Muhammad ibn Ali (a.s.), would wear it as well as Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s.), did. They, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, wore their clothes of the roughest texture in their Salat (prayer) and we also do so.’”

عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بُنْدَارَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَرِيرٍ الْقُمِّيِّ قَالَ:

سَأَلْتُ الرِّضَا ع عَنِ الرِّيشِ أَ ذَكِيٌّ هُوَ فَقَالَ كَانَ أَبِي ع يَتَوَسَّدُ الرِّيشَ.

5. Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Bandar has narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr from abu Jarir al-Qummiy who has said the following: “I once asked al-Rida’ (a.s.), about feathers; if it is lawful. He (the Imam) said, ‘My father would use a pillow of feathers.’”
