قُلْتُ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع يَقُولُ النَّاسُ تُطْوَى لَنَا الْأَرْضُ بِاللَّيْلِ كَيْفَ تُطْوَى قَالَ هَكَذَا ثُمَّ عَطَفَ ثَوْبَهُ.

490. A number of our companions, Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid, from Ismail Bin Mahraan, from Sayf Bin Umeyra, from Basheer Al-Nabaal, from Humraan Bin Ayn who said: I said to Abu Ja’far (asws), ‘The people are saying the earth would fold up for us at night, how it would fold up?’ He (asws) said: ‘Like this’, then folded his (asws) cloth’.

[2]قال الجزريّ: فى حديث السفر: أطولنا الأرض أي قربها و سهل السير فيها حتّى لا تطول علينا فكأنها قد طويت و منه الحديث أن الأرض لتطوى بالليل ما لا تطوى بالنهار أي يقطع مسافتها لان الإنسان فيه أنشط من النهار و أقدر على المشى و السير لعدم الحرّ و غيره.ص 314
