خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ ص ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَ هُوَ مُسْتَبْشِرٌ يَضْحَكُ سُرُوراً فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّاسُ أَضْحَكَ اللَّهُ سِنَّكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَ زَادَكَ سُرُوراً فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ يَوْمٍ وَ لَا لَيْلَةٍ إِلَّا وَ لِيَ فِيهِمَا تُحْفَةٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ أَلَا وَ إِنَّ رَبِّي أَتْحَفَنِي فِي يَوْمِي هَذَا بِتُحْفَةٍ لَمْ يُتْحِفْنِي بِمِثْلِهَا فِيمَا مَضَى إِنَّ جَبْرَئِيلَ أَتَانِي فَأَقْرَأَنِي

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ع يَقُولُ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَ فَلَمَّا أَحَسُّوا بَأْسَنا إِذا هُمْ مِنْها يَرْكُضُونَ لا تَرْكُضُوا وَ ارْجِعُوا إِلى ما أُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيهِ وَ مَساكِنِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْئَلُونَ[3] قَالَ إِذَا قَامَ الْقَائِمُ وَ بَعَثَ إِلَى بَنِي أُمَيَّةَ بِالشَّامِ فَهَرَبُوا إِلَى الرُّومِ فَيَقُولُ لَهُمُ الرُّومُ لَا نُدْخِلَنَّكُمْ حَتَّى تَتَنَصَّرُوا فَيُعَلِّقُونَ فِي أَعْنَا

كَتَبَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع إِلَى سَعْدٍ الْخَيْرِ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ* أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنِّي أُوصِيكَ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ فَإِنَّ فِيهَا السَّلَامَةَ مِنَ التَّلَفِ وَ الْغَنِيمَةَ فِي الْمُنْقَلَبِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَقِي بِالتَّقْوَى عَنِ الْعَبْدِ مَا عَزَبَ عَنْهُ عَقْلُهُ[3] وَ يُجْلِي بِالتَّقْوَى عَنْهُ عَمَاهُ وَ جَهْلَهُ وَ بِالتَّقْوَى نَجَا نُوحٌ وَ مَنْ مَعَهُ فِي السَّفِينَةِ وَ

كَتَبَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع إِلَى سَعْدٍ الْخَيْرِ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ* أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَقَدْ جَاءَنِي كِتَابُكَ تَذْكُرُ فِيهِ مَعْرِفَةَ مَا لَا يَنْبَغِي تَرْكُهُ وَ طَاعَةَ مَنْ رِضَا اللَّهِ رِضَاهُ فَقُلْتَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ لِنَفْسِكَ مَا كَانَتْ نَفْسُكَ مُرْتَهَنَةً لَوْ تَرَكْتَهُ تَعْجَبُ[1] أَنَّ رِضَا اللَّهِ وَ طَاعَتَهُ وَ نَصِيحَتَهُ لَا تُقْبَلُ وَ لَا تُوجَدُ وَ لَا تُعْرَفُ إِلَّا فِي عِبَاد

بَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ جَالِساً إِذْ أَقْبَلَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص إِنَّ فِيكَ شَبَهاً مِنْ عِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ[1] وَ لَوْ لَا أَنْ تَقُولَ فِيكَ طَوَائِفُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي مَا قَالَتِ النَّصَارَى فِي عِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ لَقُلْتُ فِيكَ قَوْلًا لَا تَمُرُّ بِمَلَإٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ إِلَّا أَخَذُوا التُّرَابَ مِنْ تَحْتِ قَدَمَيْكَ يَلْتَمِسُونَ بِذَلِكَ الْبَرَكَةَ قَا

خَطَبَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَ أَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَ صَلَّى عَلَى النَّبِيِّ وَ آلِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى لَمْ يَقْصِمْ جَبَّارِي دَهْرٍ إِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ تَمْهِيلٍ وَ رَخَاءٍ وَ لَمْ يَجْبُرْ كَسْرَ عَظْمٍ مِنَ الْأُمَمِ إِلَّا بَعْدَ أَزْلٍ وَ بَلَاءٍ[1] أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ فِي دُونِ مَا اسْتَقْبَلْتُمْ مِنْ عَطَبٍ وَ اسْتَدْبَرْتُمْ مِنْ
‘Amir-ul-Momineen (asws) gave a sermon at Al-Medina. So he (asws) Praised Allah (azwj) and Extolled Him (azwj) and sent greetings of peace (Salam) upon the Prophet (saww). Then he (asws) said: ‘Having said that, Allah (azwj) Blessed and High does not Break the backs of the tyrants except after giving them respite and (
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي عَلَا فَاسْتَعْلَى وَ دَنَا فَتَعَالَى وَ ارْتَفَعَ فَوْقَ كُلِّ مَنْظَرٍ وَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً عَبْدُهُ وَ رَسُولُهُ خَاتَمُ النَّبِيِّينَ وَ حُجَّةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ مُصَدِّقاً لِلرُّسُلِ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَ كَانَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفاً رَحِيماً فَصَلَّى اللَّهُ وَ مَلَائِكَتُهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلَى آلِهِ أ
‘Amir-ul-Momineen (asws), when they had pledged allegiance to him (asws) after the killing of Usman, ascended the Pulpit, so he (asws) said: ‘Praise be to Allah (azwj) Who is High and thus all is in His (azwj) possession and He (azwj) is Closer than any in the view. And I (asws) hereby testify that there is no god but
كَانَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ أَحَبَّكُمْ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَحْسَنُكُمْ عَمَلًا وَ إِنَّ أَعْظَمَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَمَلًا أَعْظَمُكُمْ فِيمَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ رَغْبَةً وَ إِنَّ أَنْجَاكُمْ مِنْ عَذَابِ اللَّهِ أَشَدُّكُمْ خَشْيَةً لِلَّهِ وَ إِنَّ أَقْرَبَكُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ أَوْسَعُكُمْ خُلُقاً وَ إِنَّ أَرْضَاكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ أَسْبَغُكُمْ عَلَى عِيَالِهِ وَ إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ لِلَّهِ.
The most Beloved of you all to Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic is the one with the best deeds, and the greatest one of you in (the Sight of) Allah (azwj) is the one who has the greatest interest in what is with Allah (azwj), and that the safest one of you from the Punishment of Allah (azwj) is the one who is the most
قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع لَيَأْتِيَنَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ يُظَرَّفُ فِيهِ الْفَاجِرُ وَ يُقَرَّبُ فِيهِ الْمَاجِنُ[1] وَ يُضَعَّفُ فِيهِ الْمُنْصِفُ قَالَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ مَتَى ذَاكَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَقَالَ إِذَا اتُّخِذَتِ الْأَمَانَةُ مَغْنَماً وَ الزَّكَاةُ مَغْرَماً وَ الْعِبَادَةُ اسْتِطَالَةً وَ الصِّلَةُ مَنّاً قَالَ فَقِيلَ مَتَى ذَلِكَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَقَالَ إِذَا تَسَلَّطْنَ
‘An era will come upon the people in which, the debaucher (pervert) would be considered respectable, and nearness would be sought for the immoral, and fair play would be weak’. He (the narrator) said, ‘I said to him (asws), ‘When would that be, O Amir-ul-Momineen (asws)?’ He (asws) said: ‘When an entrustment would be r
خَطَبَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَ أَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ آدَمَ لَمْ يَلِدْ عَبْداً وَ لَا أَمَةً وَ إِنَّ النَّاسَ كُلَّهُمْ أَحْرَارٌ وَ لَكِنَّ اللَّهَ خَوَّلَ بَعْضَكُمْ بَعْضاً فَمَنْ كَانَ لَهُ بَلَاءٌ فَصَبَرَ فِي الْخَيْرِ فَلَا يَمُنَّ بِهِ عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَلَا وَ قَدْ حَضَرَ شَيْءٌ وَ نَحْنُ مُسَوُّونَ فِيهِ بَيْنَ الْأَسْوَدِ وَ الْأَحْمَرِ فَقَ
‘O you people! Surely, Adam (as) did not give birth to a slave or a bondmaid, and that all of the people are free, but Allah (azwj) Made some to be in authority over the others. So the one who had an affliction and he bore it patiently in goodness so he should not consider by it as a favour to Allah (azwj) Mighty and M
خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص لِعَرْضِ الْخَيْلِ فَمَرَّ بِقَبْرِ أَبِي أُحَيْحَةَ[1] فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ صَاحِبَ هَذَا الْقَبْرِ فَوَ اللَّهِ إِنْ كَانَ لَيَصُدُّ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَ يُكَذِّبُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص فَقَالَ خَالِدٌ ابْنُهُ بَلْ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ أَبَا قُحَافَةَ فَوَ اللَّهِ مَا كَانَ يَقْرِي الضَّيْفَ[2] وَ لَا يُقَاتِلُ الْعَدُوَّ فَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ أَهْوَنَهُمَا عَلَى الْعَشِيرَةِ فَقْداً فَ
إِنَّ مَوْلًى لِأَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع سَأَلَهُ مَالًا فَقَالَ يَخْرُجُ عَطَائِي فَأُقَاسِمُكَ هُوَ فَقَالَ لَا أَكْتَفِي وَ خَرَجَ إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ فَوَصَلَهُ فَكَتَبَ إِلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع يُخْبِرُهُ بِمَا أَصَابَ مِنَ الْمَالِ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ مَا فِي يَدِكَ مِنَ الْمَالِ قَدْ كَانَ لَهُ أَهْلٌ قَبْلَكَ وَ هُوَ صَائِرٌ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ بَعْدَكَ وَ إِنَّمَا
‘A slave of Amir-ul-Momineen (asws) asked him (asws) for some wealth, so he (asws) said: ‘When my (asws) share comes to me (asws) I (asws) will distribute it to you’. He said, ‘I am not content’, and he went to Muawiya who gave it to him. So he wrote to Amir-ul-Momineen (asws) informing him (asws) of what he had receiv
كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ع يَعِظُ النَّاسَ وَ يُزَهِّدُهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ يُرَغِّبُهُمْ فِي أَعْمَالِ الْآخِرَةِ بِهَذَا الْكَلَامِ فِي كُلِّ جُمُعَةٍ فِي مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ حُفِظَ عَنْهُ وَ كُتِبَ كَانَ يَقُولُ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَ اعْلَمُوا أَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ* فَ تَجِدُ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ما عَمِلَتْ فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا مِنْ خَيْرٍ مُحْضَراً وَ ما عَمِلَتْ مِنْ سُوءٍ

بَيْنَا أَنَا مَعَ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع وَ الْبَيْتُ غَاصٌّ بِأَهْلِهِ إِذْ أَقْبَلَ شَيْخٌ يَتَوَكَّأُ عَلَى عَنَزَةٍ لَهُ[1] حَتَّى وَقَفَ عَلَى بَابِ الْبَيْتِ فَقَالَ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُ ثُمَّ سَكَتَ فَقَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع وَ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهُ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ الشَّيْخُ بِوَجْهِهِ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ وَ قَالَ السَّلَ

كَانَ رَجُلٌ يَبِيعُ الزَّيْتَ وَ كَانَ يُحِبُّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص حُبّاً شَدِيداً كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ فِي حَاجَتِهِ لَمْ يَمْضِ حَتَّى يَنْظُرَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ قَدْ عُرِفَ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ فَإِذَا جَاءَ تَطَاوَلَ لَهُ حَتَّى يَنْظُرَ إِلَيْهِ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَتْ ذَاتُ يَوْمٍ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَتَطَاوَلَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص حَتَّى نَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ مَضَى فِي حَاجَتِهِ فَلَمْ يَكُنْ بِأَسْ

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فَقَالَ كَيْفَ أَصْحَابُكَ فَقُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ لَنَحْنُ عِنْدَهُمْ أَشَرُّ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ وَ النَّصَارَى وَ الْمَجُوسِ وَ الَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا قَالَ وَ كَانَ مُتَّكِئاً فَاسْتَوَى جَالِساً ثُمَّ قَالَ كَيْفَ قُلْتَ قُلْتُ وَ اللَّهِ لَنَحْنُ عِنْدَهُمْ أَشَرُّ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ وَ النَّصَارَى وَ الْمَجُوسِ وَ الَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا فَقَالَ أَمَا وَ اللَّهِ لَا تَدْخُلُ النَّار

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ كَانَ فِي وَصِيَّةِ النَّبِيِّ ص لِعَلِيٍّ ع أَنْ قَالَ يَا عَلِيُّ أُوصِيكَ فِي نَفْسِكَ بِخِصَالٍ فَاحْفَظْهَا عَنِّي ثُمَّ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنْهُ أَمَّا الْأُولَى فَالصِّدْقُ وَ لَا تَخْرُجَنَّ مِنْ فِيكَ كَذِبَةٌ أَبَداً وَ الثَّانِيَةُ الْوَرَعُ وَ لَا تَجْتَرِئْ عَلَى خِيَانَةٍ أَبَداً وَ الثَّالِثَةُ الْخَوْفُ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ ذِكْرُهُ كَأَنَّكَ تَرَاهُ وَ الرَّابِ
‘There was in the bequest of the Prophet (saww) to Ali (asws) that he (saww) said: ‘O Ali (asws), I (saww) hereby bequeath you (asws) with regards to yourself (asws) of qualities, so preserve them from me (saww)’. Then he (saww) said: ‘Our Allah (azwj), Support him (asws). As for the first one is to be truthful, and do
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص حَسَبُ الْمَرْءِ دِينُهُ وَ مُرُوءَتُهُ وَ عَقْلُهُ وَ شَرَفُهُ وَ جَمَالُهُ وَ كَرَمُهُ تَقْوَاهُ.
‘The Messenger (saww) of Allah (azwj) said: ‘The status of the man is (in accordance to) his Religion, and his chivalry, and his intellect, and his nobility, and his beauty, and his generosity, and his piety.
كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع فِي فُسْطَاطٍ لَهُ بِمِنًى فَنَظَرَ إِلَى زِيَادٍ الْأَسْوَدِ مُنْقَلِعَ الرِّجْلِ فَرَثَى لَهُ[1] فَقَالَ لَهُ مَا لِرِجْلَيْكَ هَكَذَا قَالَ جِئْتُ عَلَى بَكْرٍ لِي نِضْوٍ فَكُنْتُ[2] أَمْشِي عَنْهُ عَامَّةَ الطَّرِيقِ فَرَثَى لَهُ وَ قَالَ لَهُ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ زِيَادٌ إِنِّي أُلِمُّ بِالذُّنُوبِ حَتَّى إِذَا ظَنَنْتُ أَنِّي قَدْ هَلَكْتُ ذَكَرْتُ حُبَّكُمْ فَرَجَوْتُ النَّجَاةَ وَ ت

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ صَارَتْ فِرْقَةٌ مُرْجِئَةً وَ صَارَتْ فِرْقَةٌ حَرُورِيَّةً وَ صَارَتْ فِرْقَةٌ قَدَرِيَّةً وَ سُمِّيتُمُ التُّرَابِيَّةَ وَ شِيعَةَ عَلِيٍّ أَمَا وَ اللَّهِ مَا هُوَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَ رَسُولُهُ ص وَ آلُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ع وَ شِيعَةُ آلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص وَ مَا النَّاسُ إِلَّا هُمْ كَانَ عَلِيٌّ ع أَفْضَلَ النَّاسِ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ ال

They have become the Murjiyya sect, and the Haruriyya sect, and the Qadiriyya sect, and you have been named as the Tarabiyya and the Shiites of Ali (asws). But, by Allah (azwj) and what is that except for that there is no god except Allah (azwj), One
قُلْتُ لَهُ أَصْلَحَكَ اللَّهُ لَقَدْ تَرَكْنَا أَسْوَاقَنَا انْتِظَاراً لِهَذَا الْأَمْرِ حَتَّى لَيُوشِكُ الرَّجُلُ مِنَّا أَنْ يَسْأَلَ فِي يَدِهِ فَقَالَ يَا [أَبَا] عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ أَ تَرَى مَنْ حَبَسَ نَفْسَهُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَا يَجْعَلُ اللَّهُ لَهُ مَخْرَجاً بَلَى وَ اللَّهِ لَيَجْعَلَنَّ اللَّهُ لَهُ مَخْرَجاً رَحِمَ اللَّهُ عَبْداً أَحْيَا أَمْرَنَا قُلْتُ أَصْلَحَكَ اللَّهُ إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ الْمُرْجِئَةَ ي

We have left our markets (businesses) so as to wait for this matter (Al-Qaim (asws)), to the extent that one of us is about to ask by his hand (beg)’. He (asws) said: ‘O Abu Abdul Hameed, Have you see that the one who confines himself to Allah (azwj) tha
دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فِي زَمَنِ مَرْوَانَ فَقَالَ مَنْ أَنْتُمْ فَقُلْنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ فَقَالَ مَا مِنْ بَلْدَةٍ مِنَ الْبُلْدَانِ أَكْثَرَ مُحِبّاً لَنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ وَ لَا سِيَّمَا هَذِهِ الْعِصَابَةِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ جَلَّ ذِكْرُهُ هَدَاكُمْ لِأَمْرٍ جَهِلَهُ النَّاسُ وَ أَحْبَبْتُمُونَا وَ أَبْغَضَنَا النَّاسُ وَ اتَّبَعْتُمُونَا وَ خَالَفَنَا النَّاسُ وَ صَدَّقْتُمُونَا وَ كَذ

سَمِعْتُ كَلَاماً يُرْوَى عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ص وَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ع وَ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فَعَرَضْتُهُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فَقَالَ هَذَا قَوْلُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص أَعْرِفُهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص الشَّقِيُّ مَنْ شَقِيَ فِي بَطْنِ أُمِّهِ وَ السَّعِيدُ مَنْ وُعِظَ بِغَيْرِهِ وَ أَكْيَسُ الْكَيْسِ التُّقَى وَ أَحْمَقُ الْحُمْقِ الْفُجُورُ وَ شَرُّ الرَّوِيِّ رَوِيُّ الْكَذِبِ[6] وَ شَرُّ الْأُمُورِ مُحْدَث
The Messenger (saww) of Allah (azwj) said: ‘The wretched one is the one who is wretched in the womb of his mother, and a happy one is the one who heeds the advice given to the others. And the most intelligent one of the intelligent ones is the one who is pious, and the most stupid of the stupid ones is the immoral. The
كَانَ النَّاسُ قَبْلَ نُوحٍ أُمَّةَ ضَلَالٍ فَبَدَا لِلَّهِ فَبَعَثَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ وَ لَيْسَ كَمَا يَقُولُونَ لَمْ يَزَلْ[5] وَ كَذَبُوا يَفْرُقُ اللَّهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ مَا كَانَ مِنْ شِدَّةٍ أَوْ رَخَاءٍ أَوْ مَطَرٍ بِقَدْرِ مَا يَشَاءُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَنْ يُقَدِّرَ إِلَى مِثْلِهَا مِنْ قَابِلٍ. حَدِيثُ الْبَحْرِ مَعَ الشَّمْسِ

إِنَّ مِنَ الْأَقْوَاتِ الَّتِي قَدَّرَهَا اللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ مِمَّا يَحْتَاجُونَ إِلَيْهِ الْبَحْرَ الَّذِي خَلَقَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَ الْأَرْضِ قَالَ وَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ قَدَّرَ فِيهَا مَجَارِيَ الشَّمْسِ وَ الْقَمَرِ وَ النُّجُومِ وَ الْكَوَاكِبِ وَ قَدَّرَ ذَلِكَ كُلَّهُ عَلَى الْفَلَكِ ثُمَّ وَكَّلَ بِالْفَلَكِ مَلَكاً وَ مَعَهُ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفَ مَلَكٍ فَهُمْ يُدِيرُونَ الْفَلَكَ فَإِذ
From among the sustenance are those which Allah (azwj) has Measured out for the people from what their needs are to Him (azwj). شَكَوْتُ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع مَا أَلْقَى مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي مِنِ اسْتِخْفَافِهِمْ بِالدِّينِ فَقَالَ يَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ لَا تُنْكِرْ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِكَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى جَعَلَ لِكُلِّ أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ حُجَّةً يَحْتَجُّ بِهَا عَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ فِي الْقِيَامَةِ فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ أَ لَمْ تَرَوْا فُلَاناً فِيكُمْ أَ لَمْ تَرَوْا هَدْيَهُ فِيكُمْ[1] أَ لَمْ تَرَوْا صَلَاتَهُ فِيكُمْ
‘I complained to Abu Abdullah (asws) of what I had faced from my family from their taking of their Religion lightly’. So he (asws) said: ‘O Ismail, do not abhor that from your family, for Allah (azwj) Blessed and High has Made for every family a proof by which He (azwj) will Argue by against his (faithless) family on t
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَقُولُ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ مِنْكُمْ لَيَكُونُ فِي الْمَحَلَّةِ فَيَحْتَجُّ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى جِيرَانِهِ [بِهِ] فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ أَ لَمْ يَكُنْ فُلَانٌ بَيْنَكُمْ أَ لَمْ تَسْمَعُوا كَلَامَهُ أَ لَمْ تَسْمَعُوا بُكَاءَهُ فِي اللَّيْلِ فَيَكُونُ حُجَّةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ[3].
The man from among you lives in the neighbourhood. So Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic will Argue by him against his neighbours on the Day of Judgement. So He (azwj) will Say: “Was not so and so among you? Did you not hear his speech? Did you not hear his wailing during the night? So he will be the Argument of Allah (a
سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ- وَ أَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْراً أَبابِيلَ تَرْمِيهِمْ بِحِجارَةٍ مِنْ سِجِّيلٍ[4] قَالَ كَانَ طَيْرٌ سَافٌ[5] جَاءَهُمْ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْبَحْرِ رُءُوسُهَا كَأَمْثَالِ رُءُوسِ السِّبَاعِ وَ أَظْفَارُهَا كَأَظْفَارِ السِّبَاعِ مِنَ الطَّيْرِ مَعَ كُلِّ طَائِرٍ ثَلَاثَةُ أَحْجَارٍ فِي رِجْلَيْهِ حَجَرَانِ وَ فِي مِنْقَارِهِ حَجَرٌ فَجَعَلَتْ تَرْمِيهِمْ بِهَا حَتَّى جُدِّرَ
‘I asked him (asws) about the Statement of Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic: “[105:3] And send against them swarms of flying creatures [105:4] Striking them with stones of baked clay”, he (asws) said: ‘These were low flying birds which came upon them from the sea front. وَقَعَ بَيْنَ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ وَ بَيْنَ وَلَدِ الْحَسَنِ ع كَلَامٌ فَبَلَغَنِي ذَلِكَ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع فَذَهَبْتُ أَتَكَلَّمُ فَقَالَ لِي مَهْ لَا تَدْخُلْ فِيمَا بَيْنَنَا فَإِنَّمَا مَثَلُنَا وَ مَثَلُ بَنِي عَمِّنَا كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ كَانَ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ كَانَتْ لَهُ ابْنَتَانِ فَزَوَّجَ إِحْدَاهُمَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ زَرَّاعٍ وَ زَوَّجَ الْأُخْرَى مِنْ رَجُلٍ فَخَّارٍ ثُمَّ زَارَهُمَا فَبَدَأَ بِ
‘A discussion took place between Abu Ja’far (asws) and the children of Al-Hassan (asws). That reached me, so I came up to Abu Ja’far (asws) to speak to him (asws) about it. He (asws) said to me: ‘Shhh! Do not interfere in what is in between us (asws), for our (asws) example and the example of the sons of our (asws) unc
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يُعَوِّذُ بَعْضَ وُلْدِهِ وَ يَقُولُ عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكِ[2] يَا رِيحُ وَ يَا وَجَعُ كَائِناً مَا كُنْتِ بِالْعَزِيمَةِ الَّتِي عَزَمَ بِهَا- عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع رَسُولُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص عَلَى جِنِّ وَادِي الصَّبْرَةِ[3] فَأَجَابُوا وَ أَطَاعُوا لَمَّا أَجَبْتِ وَ أَطَعْتِ وَ خَرَجْتِ عَنِ ابْنِي فُلَانٍ ابْنِ ابْنَتِي فُلَانَةَ السَّاعَةَ السَّاعَةَ.
‘I heard Abu Abdullah (asws) seeking refuge for one of his (asws) sons and he (asws) was saying: ‘I (asws) am resolved against you, O wind, and O pain, whatever creature you are, with the determination which Ali (asws) Bin Abu Talib (asws) and the Messenger (saww) of Allah (azwj) held against the Jinn in the valley of
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ يَتَفَقَّدْ يَفْقِدْ وَ مَنْ لَا يُعِدَّ الصَّبْرَ لِنَوَائِبِ الدَّهْرِ يَعْجِزْ وَ مَنْ قَرَضَ النَّاسَ قَرَضُوهُ[1] وَ مَنْ تَرَكَهُمْ لَمْ يَتْرُكُوهُ قِيلَ فَأَصْنَعُ مَا ذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَقْرِضْهُمْ مِنْ عِرْضِكَ لِيَوْمِ فَقْرِكَ.
The Messenger (saww) of Allah (azwj) said: ‘The one who misses (someone in his absence) is himself missed (by others), and the one who does not prepare (himself to observe) patience against the ravages of the time would be frustrated, and the one who problems the people would be troubled by them, and the one who leaves
بَيْنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عِيسَى فِي دَارِهِ الَّتِي فِي الْمَسْعَى يُشْرِفُ عَلَى الْمَسْعَى إِذْ رَأَى أَبَا الْحَسَنِ مُوسَى ع مُقْبِلًا مِنَ الْمَرْوَةِ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ فَأَمَرَ ابْنَ هَيَّاجٍ رَجُلًا مِنْ هَمْدَانَ مُنْقَطِعاً إِلَيْهِ أَنْ يَتَعَلَّقَ بِلِجَامِهِ وَ يَدَّعِيَ الْبَغْلَةَ فَأَتَاهُ فَتَعَلَّقَ بِاللِّجَامِ وَ ادَّعَى الْبَغْلَةَ فَثَنَى أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ع رِجْلَهُ فَنَزَلَ عَنْهَا وَ قَالَ لِغِلْمَانِه
‘Musa Bin Isa was in his house which was in the place of Sa’ee (nearby the Kaaba), overlooking it when he saw Abu Al-Hassan Musa (asws) coming from Al-Marwa upon his (asws) mule. So he ordered Ibn Hayyaaj, a man from Hamdaan who was very close to him (asws) to go and hold on to the reins and make a claim for the mule.
خَرَجْنَا مَعَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع حَيْثُ خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الْمَنْصُورِ مِنَ الْحِيرَةِ فَخَرَجَ سَاعَةَ أُذِنَ لَهُ وَ انْتَهَى إِلَى السَّالِحِينَ فِي أَوَّلِ اللَّيْلِ فَعَرَضَ لَهُ عَاشِرٌ كَانَ يَكُونُ فِي السَّالِحِينَ[2] فِي أَوَّلِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ لَهُ لَا أَدَعُكَ أَنْ تَجُوزَ فَأَلَحَّ عَلَيْهِ وَ طَلَبَ إِلَيْهِ فَأَبَى إِبَاءً وَ أَنَا وَ مُصَادِفٌ مَعَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ مُصَادِفٌ جُعِ
‘We went out with Abu Abdullah (as) when he left from the presence of Abu Ja’far Al-Mansour from Al-Hira. So he left at the time permitted for him and ended up at Al-Saliheen in the beginning of the night. A tax collector presented himself to him who was in Al-Saliheen in the beginning of the night. He said to him, ‘I
بَعَثَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع غُلَاماً لَهُ فِي حَاجَةٍ فَأَبْطَأَ فَخَرَجَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع عَلَى أَثَرِهِ لَمَّا أَبْطَأَ عَلَيْهِ فَوَجَدَهُ نَائِماً فَجَلَسَ عِنْدَ رَأْسِهِ يُرَوِّحُهُ حَتَّى انْتَبَهَ فَلَمَّا انْتَبَهَ قَالَ لَهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَا فُلَانُ وَ اللَّهِ مَا ذَاكَ لَكَ تَنَامُ اللَّيْلَ وَ النَّهَارَ لَكَ اللَّيْلُ وَ لَنَا مِنْكَ النَّهَارُ.
‘Abu Abdullah (asws) sent one of his (asws) servants on an errand. He was delayed. So Abu Abdullah (asws) went out to see why he had been delayed. He (asws) found him sleeping. So he (asws) sat near to his head and caressed it (and waited) until he woke up. So when he was awake, Abu Abdullah (asws) said to him: ‘O so a
