عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ع

أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ عُمَيْسٍ نُفِسَتْ بِمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَمَرَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص حِينَ أَرَادَتِ الْإِحْرَامَ مِنْ ذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ أَنْ تَحْتَشِيَ بِالْكُرْسُفِ وَ الْخِرَقِ وَ تُهِلَّ بِالْحَجِّ فَلَمَّا قَدِمُوا مَكَّةَ وَ قَدْ نَسَكُوا الْمَنَاسِكَ وَ قَدْ أَتَى لَهَا ثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ يَوْماً فَأَمَرَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص أَنْ تَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ وَ تُصَلِّيَ وَ لَمْ يَنْقَطِعْ عَنْهَا الدَّمُ فَفَعَلَتْ ذَلِكَ‌.

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad from Hariz from Zurarah who has said the following: “Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ’Asma’ bint ‘Umays gave birth to Muhammad ibn abu Bakr. The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, commanded her, when she wanted to assume the state of Ihram from Dhu al- Hulayfah, to fill up herself with cotton and cloth and say Talbiyah for al-Hajj. They entered Makkah, when they had performed all acts, eighteen days had passed. The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, commanded her to perform Tawaf around the House and perform Salat (prayer) but her bleeding had not stopped and she followed the instruction.”’

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص‌ إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ الْمَرْأَةِ مَثَلُ الضِّلْعِ الْمُعْوَجِّ إِنْ تَرَكْتَهُ انْتَفَعْتَ بِهِ وَ إِنْ أَقَمْتَهُ كَسَرْتَهُ وَ فِي حَدِيثٍ آخَرَ اسْتَمْتَعْتَ بِهِ.

1. Abu Ali al-Ash’ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Women are like crooked ribs from which you can benefit by leaving it alone (the way it is); but on trying to straighten one only causes it to snap and break a part. 5 In another Hadith is said, ‘You can benefit thereby.”’

الْمُسْتَحَاضَةُ تَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ وَ تُصَلِّي وَ لَا تَدْخُلُ الْكَعْبَةَ.

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from Muhammad ibn Aslam from Yunus ibn Ya’qub from those who narrated to him from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who said, “A woman who experiences Istihadah (a form of menses) can perform Tawaf around the House (Ka'ba) and she can pray, but she cannot enter the Ka'ba.”

2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Aban al-Ahmar from Muhammad al-Wasitiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Ibrahim (a.s.) once complained before Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, because of the wicked moral behavior of Sarah and Allah most High, sent him revelation that said, ‘Women are like crooked ribs, on trying to straighten you only cause it to snap and break apart but you can benefit by leaving it alone (the way it is), so you must exercise patience.’”
