أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ع قَالَ:

سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَكُونُ شَيْخاً كَبِيراً أَوْ مَرِيضاً يَخَافُ ضِغَاطَ النَّاسِ وَ زِحَامَهُمْ‌ يُحْرِمُ بِالْحَجِّ وَ يَخْرُجُ إِلَى مِنًى قَبْلَ يَوْمِ التَّرْوِيَةِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ يَخْرُجُ الرَّجُلُ الصَّحِيحُ يَلْتَمِسُ مَكَاناً وَ يَتَرَوَّحُ بِذَلِكَ الْمَكَانِ قَالَ لَا قُلْتُ يُعَجِّلُ بِيَوْمٍ قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ بِيَوْمَيْنِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ ثَلَاثَةٍ قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ لَا.

1. Abu Ali al-Ash’ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), about a man who is an old man or suffering from an illness who is afraid of congestion due to large number of people, if he can assume the state of Ihram for al-Hajj and leave for Mina on the day of al-Tarwiyah (eight of Dhu al-Hajjah). He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, he can do so.’ I then asked, ‘Can a man in good health leave in search for a place and rest in that place ? He (the Imam) said, ‘No, he cannot do so . I then asked, ‘Can he leave one day before ? He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, he can do so . I then asked, ‘Can he leave two days earlier ? He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, he can do so . I asked, ‘Can he leave three days before ? He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, he can do so . I then asked, ‘Can he leave more than three days earlier? He (the Imam) said, ‘No, he cannot do so . ‘“

الْخِمَارَ وَ الْجِلْبَابَ قُلْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ مَنْ كَانَ فَقَالَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ مَنْ كَانَ‌ غَيْرَ مُتَبَرِّجَةٍ بِزِينَةٍ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَهَا وَ الزِّينَةُ الَّتِي يُبْدِينَ لَهُنَّ شَيْ‌ءٌ فِي الْآيَةِ الْأُخْرَى.

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hammad ibn ‘Uthaman from af-Halabiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), read the words of Allah, . . if they leave aside their garment,’ (24: 60) and said these words refer to veil and gown.’ I then asked, ‘In front of whom can they leave their garments aside?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is in front of those before whom it is not considered a show off with beauty (see (24:31)); but if she did not leave them aside is better and the beautification which is permissible to expose is mentioned in another verse (of the book of Allah).”’ (24:31)

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Jamil ibn Darraj who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘An Imam must perform Salat (prayer) of al-Zuhr in Mina, stay the night there till the morning until sunrise; then leave for ‘Arafat . ‘“

3. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Rifa‘ah who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘Can people leave for Mina early in the morning ? 5 He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, they can do so until sunset . ‘“

3. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Mahbub from al-‘Ala’ ibn Razin from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “I once asked abu Ja’far (a.s.), about the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘Of the rules for women whose marriage age has expired,’ and that what kind of their garments is proper to leave aside?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is just the gown.’”

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘When you are ready to move toward Mina then say, ‘O Lord, before You I place my hopes and before You I appeal, to lead me toward what I hope to achieve and make my deeds useful.’”
