مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ مُعَمَّرِ بْنِ خَلَّادٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ع قَالَ:

ثَلَاثٌ مَنْ عَرَفَهُنَّ لَمْ يَدَعْهُنَّ جَزُّ الشَّعْرِ وَ تَشْمِيرُ الثِّيَابِ وَ نِكَاحُ الْإِمَاءِ.

1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Mu’ammar ibn Khallad who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), has said, ‘If one comes to know of three things he will not ignore them. They are clipping hairs, rolling up clothes and going to bed with slave-girls.”’

قَالَ لِي‌ اسْتَأْصِلْ شَعْرَكَ‌ يَقِلُّ دَرَنُهُ وَ دَوَابُّهُ وَ وَسَخُهُ وَ تَغْلُظُ رَقَبَتُكَ وَ يَجْلُو بَصَرَكَ وَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ أُخْرَى وَ يَسْتَرِيحُ بَدَنُكَ.

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Muhammad ibn abu Hamzah from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once said to me, ‘You must clip your hairs; it reduces its smell, bugs (like flea etc.) and dirt. It thickens your neck and clears your eyesight.’” In another Hadith it is said that it comforts your body.’”

عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ قَالَ:

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي الْحَسَنِ ع إِنَّ أَصْحَابَنَا يَرْوُونَ أَنَّ حَلْقَ الرَّأْسِ فِي غَيْرِ حَجٍّ وَ لَا عُمْرَةٍ مُثْلَةٌ فَقَالَ كَانَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ع إِذَا قَضَى مَنَاسِكَهُ عَدَلَ إِلَى قَرْيَةٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا سَايَةُ فَحَلَقَ.

3. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr who has said the following: “I once said to abu al-Hassan (a.s.), ‘Our people narrate that shaving one’s head, except for al-Hajj or al-‘Umrah, is like causing deformity.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), after al-Hajj and al-‘Umrah would go to the town called Sayah and shave his head.’”

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّ حَلْقَ الرَّأْسِ مُثْلَةٌ فَقَالَ عُمْرَةٌ لَنَا وَ مُثْلَةٌ لِأَعْدَائِنَا.

4. Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from in a marfu‘ manner the following: “I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘People say shaving of the head is like causing deformity.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is like performing al-‘Umrah for us and deformity for our enemies.’”

حَجَمَنِي الْحَجَّامُ فَحَلَقَ مِنْ مَوْضِعِ‌ النُّقْرَةِ فَرَآنِي أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ع فَقَالَ أَيُّ شَيْ‌ءٍ هَذَا اذْهَبْ فَاحْلِقْ رَأْسَكَ قَالَ فَذَهَبْتُ وَ حَلَقْتُ رَأْسِي.

5. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa and Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from all from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Umar ibn Aslam who has said the following: “I once applied cupping. The cupping man shaved that area. Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), saw me and asked, ‘What is this? Go and shave your head.’ I went and shaved my head.’”

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع مَا تَقُولُ فِي إِطَالَةِ الشَّعْرِ فَقَالَ كَانَ أَصْحَابُ مُحَمَّدٍ ص مُشْعِرِينَ يَعْنِي الطَّمَ‌.

6. Abu Ali al-Ash‘ariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan from ibn Sinan who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about growing long hairs. He (the Imam) said that companions of the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, clipped their hairs.’”

قُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ رُبَّمَا كَثُرَ الشَّعْرُ فِي قَفَايَ فَيَغُمُّنِي غَمّاً شَدِيداً فَقَالَ لِي يَا إِسْحَاقُ أَ مَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ حَلْقَ الْقَفَا يَذْهَبُ بِالْغَمِّ.

8. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Yahya ibn al-Mubarak from ‘Abd Allah ibn Jabalah from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, at times hairs grow at my back and it causes great worries for me.’ He (the Imam) said to me, ‘O Ishaq did you not know that shaving one’s back dispels anxieties?”’
