1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Qasim ibn Yahya from his grandfather al-Hassan ibn Rashid who has said the following: “He (the Imam) (a.s.), has said, that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ’Clipping fingernails repels great many pains and makes the sustenance flow.”’

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn Salim who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ’Clipping fingernails on Fridays is immunity from leprosy, vilitigo and blindness. If you do not need to trim them then at least scratch them.’”

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn Ali ibn Sulayman from his uncle ‘Abd Allah ibn Hilal who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, once said to me, ’You must clip your mustache and fingernails every Friday, if you do not need clipping then just scratch them. You will not be affected by insanity, leprosy and albinism.’”

It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Muhammad ibn Ali from Ali al-Hannat from Ali ibn abu Hamzah from al- Husayn ibn abu al-‘Ala’ from abu Basir who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, about the reward for clipping the mustache and fingernails every Friday. He (the Imam) said, ‘He continues with cleanliness until the next Friday.’”

9. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from ibn Faddal from Hafs ibn al-Jurjaniy from abu al-Khasib al-Rabi‘ ibn Bakr al-Azdiy from ‘ Abd al- Rahim al-Qasir who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has stated this Hadith. There is one’s clipping his mustache and fingernails every Friday. When clipping, one should say, “In the name of Allah, with Allah, and on the Sunnah of Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause.” For every piece of clipped hair Allah writes for him the reward of setting free one enslaved soul. He will not become ill except the illness because of which he will die.’”

11. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Hassan ibn Ali ibn ‘Uqbah from abu Kahmas who has said the following: “A man once asked ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Hassan to teach him something for increased sustenance. He said, ‘Remain in the place of your Salat (prayer) after the morning Salat (prayer) until sunrise; it is more useful for seeking increased sustenance than traveling in the land.’ I informed abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about it and he (the Imam) said, ‘Will you like if I teach you for increased sustenance what is more useful than that?’ I replied, ‘Yes, I will like it.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Clip your fingernails and mustache every Friday.’”

12. Narrated from him, from Ibn Faddal, from Ali ibn Uqbah, from his father, who said: "I went to Abdullah ibn al-Hasan and said, 'Teach me a supplication for sustenance.' He said, 'Say: O Allah, take charge of my affairs and do not entrust my affairs to anyone other than You.' I presented this to Abu Abdillah (AS), and he said, 'Shall I not guide you to what is more beneficial than this for sustenance? Trim your nails and moustache every Friday, even if by scratching them.'"

13. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Ali ibn Asbat from Khalaf who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), saw me in Khurasan and I complained of eye trouble. He (the Imam) said, ‘May I teach you something which will remove your complaint because of your eyes?’ I replied, ‘Yes, I like to know it.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Clip your fingernails every Thursday.’ I followed the instruction and have not complained ever since of my eyes.’”

احْتَبَسَ الْوَحْيُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ص فَقِيلَ لَهُ احْتَبَسَ الْوَحْيُ عَنْكَ فَقَالَ ص وَ كَيْفَ لَا يَحْتَبِسُ وَ أَنْتُمْ لَا تُقَلِّمُونَ أَظْفَارَكُمْ وَ لَا تُنَقُّونَ رَوَاجِبَكُمْ‌.

17. AI-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad from Ja‘far ibn Muhammad aI-Ash‘ariy from ibn al-Qaddah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ’Once a lapse took place in coming of divine revelation to the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause. He (the Messenger of Allah) was asked, ’Has coming of divine revelation to you stopped?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘Why should it not stop when you do not clip your fingernails and clean your finger joints?”’
