قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص نَزَلَ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع عَلَيَّ بِالْخِلَالِ.
Jibril came to me with the toothpick.’”
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص نَزَلَ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع عَلَيَّ بِالْخِلَالِ.
Jibril came to me with the toothpick.’”
قَالَ لِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع نَزَلَ جَبْرَئِيلُ ع عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص بِالسِّوَاكِ وَ الْخِلَالِ وَ الْحِجَامَةِ.
“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), once said to me, ‘Jibril came to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) with the toothbrush, toothpick and cupping.’”
رَأَيْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع يَتَخَلَّلُ فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ص كَانَ يَتَخَلَّلُ وَ هُوَ يُطَيِّبُ الْفَمَ.
‘The Messenger of Allah would use a toothpick; it cleanses the mouth.’”
نَاوَلَ النَّبِيُّ ص- جَعْفَرَ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ع خِلَالًا فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا جَعْفَرُ تَخَلَّلْ فَإِنَّهُ مَصْلَحَةٌ لِلْفَمِ أَوْ قَالَ لِلِّثَةِ وَ مَجْلَبَةٌ لِلرِّزْقِ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) once gave a toothpick to Ja‘far ibn abu Talib (a.s.), and said, ‘O Ja‘far use a toothpick. It is beneficial for the mouth’ or he said, ‘It is beneficial for the gums and attracts sustenance.’”
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ص تَخَلَّلُوا فَإِنَّهُ مَصْلَحَةٌ لِلِّثَةِ وَ النَّوَاجِدِ[1]. - عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ص تَخَلَّلُوا فَإِنَّهُ يُنَقِّي الْفَمَ وَ مَصْلَحَةٌ لِلِّثَةِ.
‘You must use a toothpick it is beneficial for the gums and the molars.’”
أَنَّ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ع أُتِيَ بِخِلَالٍ مِنَ الْأَخِلَّةِ الْمُهَيَّأَةِ وَ هُوَ فِي مَنْزِلِ فَضْلِ بْنِ يُونُسَ فَأَخَذَ مِنْهَا شَظِيَّةً[2] وَ رَمَى الْبَاقِيَ
He took one piece from them and discarded the rest.
لَا تَخَلَّلُوا بِعُودِ الرَّيْحَانِ وَ لَا بِقَضِيبِ الرُّمَّانِ فَإِنَّهُمَا يُهَيِّجَانِ عِرْقَ الْجُذَامِ.
"Do not use a basil twig or a pomegranate branch as a toothpick, for they both can stimulate the nerve of leprosy."
مَنْ تَخَلَّلَ بِالْقَصَبِ لَمْ تُقْضَ لَهُ حَاجَةٌ سِتَّةَ أَيَّامٍ.
"Whoever uses a reed as a toothpick will not have any of their wishes fulfilled for six days."
نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص أَنْ يُتَخَلَّلَ بِالْقَصَبِ وَ الرَّيْحَانِ.
"The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.) forbade the use of reeds and basil twigs as toothpicks."
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ص يَتَخَلَّلُ بِكُلِّ مَا أَصَابَ مَا خَلَا الْخُوصَ[1] وَ الْقَصَبَ.
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a) used to use anything he could find to clean between his teeth, except for palm leaves and reeds.'”
نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص عَنِ التَّخَلُّلِ بِالرُّمَّانِ وَ الْآسِ وَ الْقَصَبِ وَ قَالَ ص إِنَّهُنَّ يُحَرِّكْنَ عِرْقَ الْآكِلَةِ.
From him, from the one who reported it, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: ‘Rasool-Allah saww forbade from picking teeth with the pomegranate (stem) and the myrtle (leaf), and the reeds, and said: ‘These stir the vein of the ulcers’.
