قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع يَا ابْنَ مُسْلِمٍ النَّاسُ أَهْلُ رِيَاءٍ غَيْرَكُمْ وَ ذَلِكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ أَخْفَيْتُمْ مَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ أَظْهَرْتُمْ مَا يُحِبُّ النَّاسُ وَ النَّاسُ أَظْهَرُوا مَا يُسْخِطُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ أَخْفَوْا مَا يُحِبُّهُ اللَّهُ[1] يَا ابْنَ مُسْلِمٍ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى رَأَفَ بِكُمْ فَجَعَلَ الْمُتْعَةَ عِوَضاً لَكُمْ عَنِ الْأَشْرِبَةِ[2].
‘O Ibn Muslim, the people are show-offs apart from you, and that is what you have concealed what Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic Loves, and have displayed what the people love, whilst the people have displayed what Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic is Angered by, and concealed what Allah (azwj) Loves.
